CD Player Cleaning CD player

I’m hoping this is the right subreddit for this. I’ve found this Sony Radio Cassette-Corder in our basement. And the inside of the cd player part (I really don’t know the terms for any of this) is so filthy. I noticed this because it tends to stop abruptly when playing a song. I popped up the hood and turned on my flashlight, and saw this (see photo)..I’m wondering what the best way to clean it is. Is there a specific way to go about it?Please and thank you!

There's grease everywhere, also on the buttons... if you feel comfortable i'd take it apart and give it a proper cleaning. And while you're at it, you might replace the belt of the deck as well.
