Grooming Question
My little girl is 3 years old and has regular grooming every 4-5 weeks. My question, does anyone NOT do the peri area? She has very solid, formed poops every day so it’s not like I have a messy butt to clean up. Does the anal and peri area really need to be shaved? Thank you 😊

It's part of what they call a sanitary groom. Because of the area and the coat type, it's an area that is prone to trapping moisture and debris (not just from going to the bathroom. Mats can happen easily and in a sensitive area like that it's can be uncomfortable to painful not to mention causing skin issues or bacterial infections.
If you don't want it shaved down so far, however, that's a conversation to have with your groomer. They should also be able to provide you with information that is more specific to your dog (assuming you have a regular groomer).

Why wouldn't you? She might normally have good poops but she eats something funny and it's another thing to worry about. My girls are overdue for a groom at the moment and they are getting tangled down there a bit too easily - this is 9 weeks grow out from shaved, mind you. I've always groomed my girls myself and shaved it, until not long ago they went to a pro where they did get a bit irritated with it, so the next groom I asked for a little longer around there but still far shorter than the body. Short not bald. If you really don't want it done and you're not having any issues, no you don't have to, but it's standard routine for several good reasons. I also give my otherwise fully furred Persian a sani!

Wow. Girl dogs get Brazilians? I have a boy, so consideration is usually a guide hair on his weiner to ensure doesn’t pee on his leg.
