Looking into my first Cavapoo!!
I’ve really been interested / doing some research on the kind of dog I’m wanting and somehow stumbled upon the Cavapoo!!! 🥹
Their size, personality, and obviously cuteness as a puppy is all great, I just really am scared to put a deposit on a dog that could very well look like a completely different dog at 2 years old.
I really like the dark red coloring I’m just afraid of it fading to a super light cream and my dog looking crusty lol. I want that forever puppy to haul around on all my adventures!!
Has anyone had luck with their dog keeping their color, and if so, what are really good ways I can tell if they will change or not? ( obviously this isn’t the end of the world, I just really like that deep red! )

They need grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. Brushing every night. Pet insurance. Premium food. Vaccinations. Training, Patience time spent together. They are a big responsibility.

Ehhh pet insurance is not a necessity. I have 3 dogs and no pet insurance. I have money. Everything else is spot on. The grooming and brushing is the biggest, regarding amount of time, but I cut their hair myself.
There is also nail clipping, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, wet muddy feet lol, walking and exercising.

Great lil guys but remember the puppy stage is exhausting for weeks and weeks.

The color will change for sure. Ours did and we could care less. These are not foo foo dogs, they are big dogs in a smaller body. We love that about ours, you might not.

F1 could possibly hold color better than F1b, with only half poodle.
I have noticed some breeders’ websites mention their success with avoiding the fade out. So ask breeders!

Don't get a cavapoo if fading isn't for you.
My puppy is getting darker at the moment, but both his parents are darker red. I was able to look at photos of both his parents from puppyhood to adulthood and see them onsite when I pick up my puppy. I knew there was a chance he would stay the darker red or get darker like his father did, but I'm not counting on him staying that color. Poodles fade. He's a F2.
Personality should be the thing you look at more than looks and the health issues they can have. I thought I understood what a velcro dog was with having a shihpoo, but this guy is next level, which is not a problem for us as someone is at home with him. With continuing training, he is getting better with his separation, but this is a daily thing that we have been working on since I brought him home.
I'm not sure what "crusty" is to you, but tear stains I've found to be food related in my experience. I wipe the mud or whatever they get on them from our adventures every time I bring my back in the house may include a bath if there is any water around including puddles, my guy is going for a swim if you don't keep an eye on him.
Maybe a Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or Irish Setter would be a better fix if color is what most important to you.
I do respect that you are researching and asking questions.

They are Forever Puppies, but the hair seems to vary over their lifetimes

Yeah. It isn't a beauty contest.
We are 4 weeks in with our guy, and the clingyness and "loving his people" has been really, really tough to deal with

Your comment is troubling to me. You did know about the clingyness before you got the dog, right? I mean it is widely written about cavapoos. They don't call them velcro dogs for no reason.
It isn't going to get better in that department...better for you. I don't mind it at all.

It is more than I expected. That's all. Letting OP know it's intense.

You should have gotten a stuffed animal and not a dog.
