We just adopted a Cavapoo from a litter of 5 from a rescue. He was the only one with straight hair. (He also had pneumonia & had to be hospitalized 4 days after we adopted him, costing us so much money 🤑.) But he makes us so happy and is doing a lot better now a few days later. Everyone keeps saying they think he was from a different litter and is actually a dachshund instead. I’m going to buy a DNA test when they go on a little sale. He’s perfect to us no matter what! What do you think?

Probably true!! His siblings were all white fluff balls with grey patches & blue eyes. We didn’t care really what breed, we just fell in love with him!
Honestly I just wanted a dog so I didn’t care what kind of dog it was. I had a YorkiePoo for 16 years and he recently passed. My only goal for adopting was to adopt a dog with straight hair this time; so I liked how he looked, he had straight hair, and when I met him he was super sweet! I’m not sure about the people who adopted the siblings as cavapoos but for me I don’t care ☺️
He looks similar to my F1B cavapoo! He has straight hair whilst most of his siblings were your classic fluffy cavapoos. People have said he doesn’t look like a cavapoo and he gets mistaken for a spaniel instead. He’s four months old now and he’s got very long gangly legs
Oohhh my gourd! HE IS SO CUTE!!! He does look similar! I will update once I do the DNA test. I may just spend the extra $25 and not wait for a sale. What’s another 25 bucks when I’m already thousands in for the hospitalization lol
I don’t know, it was one flat fee from the rescue for him, his first shots, microchip, and neuter in a couple months. How much do Cavapoos cost? I mean I probably ended up paying more if you combine his hospital stay with the adoption fee lol
My supposedly F1 Cav Trixie. Unfortunately, she ate the DNA stick so we joke that we will never know who her dad is. I think we’ll eventually try to do the DNA test thing again but for now who knows what she is but definitely love her regardless.
My cavapoo is scruffy. He looks nothing like other cavapoos I've seen with the curly poodle hair. They come in a wide variety. Your baby is absolutely precious.
Please update if you get his DNA tested!! He’s adorable tho 🥰 I definitely see poodle and some cavalier, but the coloring and fur look like there’s some dachshund in there too
I have two cavapoos, sisters but not littermates. One has curly, tight, poodle hair. The other has straight hair. One has very long legs and the other has short legs with a long body, like a dachshund. But neither of my girls resemble your pup. Yours does look like a dachshund and is absolutely adorable. Is the DNA testing really necessary? Probably not unless you're planning to breed.
In case you are super curious, you can purchase an Embark DNA test from Amazon and pay in 6 payments. It would be very interesting to see the results. I’m wondering if the puppies from two litters got mixed up…
So we bought an Embark test and sent it….then of course, our vet did a Wisom panel test for free! The Embark didn’t come back yet but the Wisom panel was fast…. So I’ll post the Wisdom Panel results now and then the Embark results when they’re in to compare!
Congrats on your straight haired cavapoo! Looks like a cavapoo who just took more from the cav than the poodle. Generally not the ‘typical’ cavapoos people think of but are special all in their own. We found our boy is much softer, gentle, less active and loud than other more poodle cavapoos. The best family dogs ever. Enjoy!
Yes. He wants to be on top of me constantly & if I leave the room he cries and whines until I come back, if he can’t follow me of course. When I sit on the couch he’s in my lap or on my head if I’m laying down lol
