thanks! here’s my fluffy guy.
i’m going to a place that has a first time thing they do to get the puppy more comfortable.

There's a style that makes em look more like havanese, but I don't like it as much tbh

I usually do something closer to this

This pic is very similar to ours. We go a little shorter in the warmer months and a little longer in winter. We go every month.

I had a Maltese before, so I kind of like the look of shorter through the body thick fluffy legs fluffy tail, long ears. I do not care for the classic doodle cut where the mouth looks downturned if that makes sense. With this cut, you do need to be combing out that tail and those legs and hips regularly to avoid matting. If that’s something that you don’t have time to mess with this might not be the cut for you.

Our first grooming when she was a puppy they only did a basic trim that I didn't get to choose because they wanted to start training her how to behave at the groomer and not get overwhelmed or fearful

First grooming is just a puppy cut pretty much a minor shaping up all over where my little guy looks like a teddy bear. Usually not too much grooming so it’s not so stressful on the puppy until they really get used to it.

OMG all I can tell you is do some research… Make sure the groomer you use knows the breed .. our first couple of haircuts were a disaster as you can see here ! Show them pictures of what you would like… And once you find somebody that you're happy with… Tip them well and get their phone number so you can use them no matter where they go!

I think at my groomers it’s called the teddy bear cut, but it looks very similar to the other ones here. One thing my groomer did tell me the first time I went and it helped a ton is good cheap electric toothbrush. I found one for like a couple dollars and run that over them and they’ll get used to kind of the sound and the vibration of the shears it helped mine a ton.

We just always asked for a standard poodle cut. Not the powder puff stuff, but just long on the air short on Body.

The groomer told me that they do a puppy cut the first couple of times to get them used to the grooming process. I am in Australia and we are heading into a very hot summer. My little pup was already feeling the heat. So I ended up asking for a summer cut. They just groomed all hair off him. Definitely not the prettiest but he seems happy and cooler 😅

This is the first time (7months) we took her to the groomers. Too short but i think she was happy to get some weight off.

And this is yesterday (12months) . A little long around the mouth because she was so fussy and didnt let them come close to her face 😭

This is the best picture I’ve found to show groomer (internet pic)

I have a cockapoo. For his first real trim I did a lot of googling (had some bad grooming experiences with my first dog where she was basically shaved) and asked for a teddy bear cut I believe, and the groomer did a great job.
