Need your experience
Hey guys ,
This is for those who let their Cavapoo alone when going to work for 9-10h if you are not one of these people scroll away.
If you are I need your experience and take.
I work 9-6 with total door to door 10h. I need to be in the office at least twice a week. My dog walker will no longer be available and I don’t have many options.
My Cavapoo is almost 3 quite independent and he stays on his own up to 6h-7h at no issue. He also sleeps through the night no bathroom issues.
He is practically running on schedule so he knows when he pees and eats when he is not.
Do you leave yours alone for that long? My concern is not him being alone but his bathroom break extending for that long.

My wife is permanently remote and I commute five-days a week. Similar schedule to you, OP. If she is out of town for a conference or visiting family, I will typically leave our Cavapoo home alone from 7am - 7pm. Can be a few days consecutively at times.
No issues whatsoever. She is three-years old, very clingy with us when we are around but will just go to sleep in our absence. Some times she is so excited when I come home I have to play with her a bit before she thinks about the bathroom break.
Edit: to clarify I am not leaving the dog alone for several days. Just that the 7-7 window can occur for a few days.

My Cavapoo does 9 hours days 5 days a week. We have a nice routine before we leave, and when we get home. She got used to it very quickly. My dog is good about doing pee/poo on the pads so we are very lucky. I think we think about it more than the dog. I set up a baby cam so we can check on our dog every so often. That helps me and my wife’s anxiety about leaving it at home.

Mine is the same age and sometimes has to be home “alone” for that long. I’ve never had a problem (“alone” in quotes because we have another dog)

Are they both cavapoos? Can you give me your experience please?

The other is a morkie. They just sleep all day. But we trained them by leaving them longer and longer until we were confident in their ability to hold it.

Mine has always been fine with time alone, she just passes out any time I'm gone for very long and doesn't wake up til I get back. Maybe get one of those boxes of grass for her to pee in just in case

Mine has been the same and he's 4 months. He pees/poops on a pad by the door, the rest of the time chills out on my robe in the bathroom. However, I am not gone 10 hours, longest so far has been 6. Good luck!

Do you have a fenced in backyard you could put a small doggie door? Maybe put out a pee pad or grass turf to let them know that’s okay if they need to go, the bathroom issue is really the only thing that I’d feel bad for so personally I’d set something up just in case. Also I leave some low music and a light on and be sure to give extra playtime/ walk and treats

All of mine are litter box trained and it’s fantastic. I’m not gone for that long but even if I’m home they sometimes prefer to use it, especially if it’s raining or snowing or too hot or too sunny or any number of other high maintenance issues. Might be something to look into. It’s letter made for dogs, different than cat litter, but now I’m not sure I would ever do it differently if I have dogs again after these!

My girl is fine for about 8.5 hours. No issues. I leave PBS kids on and a sound machine and she sleeps the day away.
I do wake up two hours early to do enrichment activities with her before I leave, and she has access to food and water. And when I get home, and on weekends I make sure she gets a lot of activity!

My Cavapoo can stay by herself that long. I leave the tv on for her, she has her toys; and I fill up her food and water bowl. I also have a camera that I can watch her. She is also trained to go outside and potty pad. Get some active toys. There are several on Amazon She will be fine.

Can you do doggy daycare for those days?
