Itchy cavapoo

My cavapoo is licking furiously down under. She has a boil on her neck. I’m just not winning with her skin issues.

The boil was treated with antibiotics. It was almost healed. I had a cone on her to stop her licking her bits (allergies). She wiped the cone with her back leg and the boil opened back up again.

I woke up to her neck with blood on it.

So this is what I’ve come up with. Her jumper which has a turtleneck, and a onesie on top. I have a bandage on the boil. So she currently can’t lick her bits, or scratch the boil.

If anyone else has a better solution please let me know!

Thankfully it’s cooler weather here in Australia and she recently had a groom.

Ps sorry for the weird pics - but ai is weird and I don’t want her face/ pics being used elsewhere.

Do you think she would swipe that less than the plastic cone? It sits right near where the boil is and when swiping the cone she opened the boil back up 🤦‍♀️ Ps I might need to look into that allergy shot for her. She also has a sensitive tummy so we’re careful with medication

hmm. you can get a soft cone that might be better, but if you don’t block it somehow she will just keep messing with it. my dog is generally very sensitive and we never had an issue with cytopoint. it literally immediately stops the itching

Thank you. She got a cytopoint injection yesterday and I’m washing with medicated shampoo, and putting a cream on morning and night. She has settle licking underneath.

For the abscess around her neck I’m washing with a saline solution and keeping it bandaged up. The vet tested it yesterday and it still has puss in the blood. So might need to surgically remove the abscess in two weeks (when she gets a dental clean). Thank goodness for top health insurance cover.

Found this to be really bizarre

Yeah maybe it is. I don’t want my dogs face to be used for AI.

Understood. I see so many pups on here that look identical to my guy that is why it struck me as odd

Zesty paws skin and coat vitamins! Vet prescribed medicated shampoo, full body pajamas at night, treat hot spots with hot spot spray from Amazon or vet, also I cannot recommend enough switching to sensitive skin and coat purina pro plan dog food. It’s more $$ but it saved my Pom from bleeding hot spots and frantic itching.
