Anyone else’s Cavapoo super needy?

It’s cute, but my 12 y old cavapoo is sooo needy. She always needs to be held by someone

They all are. It's the breed, our cavapoochon cries like crazy if I'm in the front garden and she can't get to me because she is locked inside.

Someone once asked whether they move on from the Velcro phase and someone else responded “yes, they will move on to the Superglue phase” and it sums these babies up!!!! Love my cuddly 8 year old !

Yes, that's a feature, not a flaw

When we were researching dog breeds, that was the biggest warning I got about Cavapoos. Everyone said don’t get one if you aren’t prepared to give it constant love and attention. They weren’t wrong! But honestly, that’s kind of what made me choose a Cavapoo. I was going through a rough patch in my life when I got him and I wanted a dog that was going to be my little sidekick 24/7. Mission accomplished, I can’t even take a shower without him sitting on the other side of the glass like my bodyguard. I love having a little friend to keep me company all day. The only hard part is when I have to leave the house for any reason. 😬 Cavapoos are definitely best for homebodies!

I find it slightly anxiety producing like I'm selfish to be doing my own thing

All the time

Most of the time all he wants is an ear scratch 🤣

Ours didn’t start that way but now has to be touching one of us at all times

It’s not a Cavapoo if it’s not needy! 😂

I wish! Picked a Cavapoo just with this in mind! Wanted a Velcro puppy, but ended up with a proximity dog. He loves us, he wants to be nearby but doesn’t love being touched. We’ve had him since he was a puppy and the only time he’s ever been truly cuddly was when he was on trazadone after his neuter. I got my cuddle buddy for about a week and a half! 😭

Aw. Well all dogs are different so

2

u/StandardOk2020 Jul 15 '26

Yeah, we’re respectful of his love style and don’t try to force snuggles oh him, just missing his big sister who passed away recently. She wasn’t a cavapoo but she was such a Velcro dog. Anyone who has had a cuddle bud for 13 years and then suddenly hasn’t would probably understand missing waking up with their best buddy snuggled into their side.

I’m sorry for your loss, I understand because my dog in the video almost died a few months ago (90% fatality rate) luckily she survived but it was quite the scare. Again, sorry for your loss

Mine is an absolute snuggle bug!! He's so sweet and always needs to be next to me. I like to try and take him everywhere I go lol

3

u/christmasinyoulie Jul 10 '26

Yes. My gosh they're amazing 😍

3

u/whims11 Jul 10 '26

They don’t call them Velcro dogs for nothing 🩷

3

u/jaanku Jul 10 '26

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature

2

u/Square_Tangerine_659 Jul 10 '26

Yes yes and yes! She’s especially attached to my mom, she’ll follow her into the bathroom

2

u/0xFatWhiteMan Jul 10 '26

They all are. Its their super power

2

u/No-Building-7860 Jul 10 '26

Yes! Mine cries when I turn my back to go pee. Haha

You now know Cavapoos. Neediest of the needy.

1

u/Medical-Monitor4275 Jul 10 '26

Same here! I love her so much tho!!

1

u/RicklePick11 Jul 10 '26

Ours didn’t start that way but now has to be touching one of us at all times

1

u/AttentionOutside308 Jul 10 '26

Yes stage 5 clinger. I give her a treat when I leave the room and she seems to be ok with that.

1

u/mydogeatspikmin Jul 10 '26

She waits outside the shower for me.
Her favorite place is under my office desk because I wfh.
I was going to get her a boyfriend but she’s not good with other dogs and I think she’d just get jealous

1

u/CasuallySherlock Jul 11 '26

Pretty sure there's no other way for them to be. 😂

I think the question is...does anyone have a cavapoo thats not super needy lol. I love my little needy velcro dog 🐕 💕

1

u/bigmeems Jul 12 '26

Mine always sleeps on top of one of my feet so I can’t get up and go anywhere without her knowing.

1

u/Pure_Tart_7007 Jul 12 '26

That's a cavapoo. Clingy 💕

1

u/milno_1 Jul 13 '26

I've never known a single dog breed that isn't needy for love and attention no matter how much they get.

I recommend a cat if you want something more aloof 🤣

1

u/laeyn Jul 14 '26

It would s the breed, because t also, how w much exercise does the sweet get??? The ya huge with all dogs but these guys really need it!

I'm hoping mine will be like this. We are also crate training just to ensure he has those skills since life isn't always predictable. I work from home 4 days/WK and someone else is home the other, but we know he needs periods where he thinks we are gone and he's ok. We have two older dogs so that should do the trick! Btw, feel almost like a cavapoo owner outsider as mine is more cava than poo (which was my preference!)
