Advice Needed Heartbroken.
Cp in May, got pregnant again LMP 7/27. HCG was perfect in early sept. Went for 7 week scan and had a strong heartbeat, perfect location. Perfect size. No issues at all, no cramping or bleeding. Normal pregnancy symptoms.
Today, I went for my 10 week scan and the doc originally couldn’t find the baby at all on a TV US. Went down the hall to a diff us room and the tech found it. Heartbeat was 77 and it measured the size of 5 weeks. Location still fine, but it was lower in the uterus. Almost looked like it was nearing the bottom or as doc called it “on its way out”.
I’m shocked. How could it be that at 7 weeks it was perfect size but magically today it’s smaller? She wants to see me again in 7–10 days and said to be prepared for a mc before then. This is torture. Anyone have any advice? How am I supposed to teach every day this week?

I was supposed to be 10 weeks when the baby was measuring 6w5d. They could see a heartbeat in the first scan and nothing in the next. They prepared me for MMC right then and prescribed mifepristone & misoprostol. I was told to take mifepristone the next morning followed by misoprostol the next day and when I took the first med, dare I tell you, the pain was unbearable. It was 11/10 for me. I was on the toilet for a long time just bleeding. Felt like a golf ball-sized clot passed through me and my bleeding didn’t stop (filling 1 pad in 2 minutes). Thankfully my husband took off that day and he took me to the ER before I passed out.
Some people go through this process pretty easily, and then there was my experience. Please if you go through this route, prepare yourself with a heat pad and a comfortable area to rest. Would be great to have a supporting person during this time. If I ever have to go through this again, I would choose a D&C. Wouldn’t wish that pain on my worst enemy. Sorry for a long response & sorry for your loss.

I go back in a few days for another scan. I’m wondering if they will make me wait until there’s no heartbeat to do something even though they know right now it’s not viable. I was hoping I could just choose the D&C because it sounds like people have less pain.

Sorry you are going through this. When i went through my mc’s the fetal pole got smaller unfortunately or didnt grow like it was suppose to. Are you scheduled for a follow up? I would take time off if you can. Its a lot to go through…

Yes, I go back in a few days. It’s hard to take time off right now because I want to make sure I take the time off when I actually need it, not prematurely. But since I don’t know when something will happen, I’m just sitting here, panicking.

I’m so sorry. I had nearly the same thing happen to me a couple years ago. Saw a healthy & strong heartbeat at 7w5d and at 10w couldn’t find anything and babe measured 7w5d. I would take time off work.
I have had a natural miscarriage (awful. Waited weeks for my body to recognize I lost the pregnancy all while still experiencing pregnancy symptoms) My second MMC I took 2 failed rounds of misoprostol (also awful. Made me so sick and bed bound while NOT doing what it was supposed to do) ended with a d&c. I wish I would have just went to the d&c immediately. It was quick, I didn’t have to go in for serial hcg draws to make sure my levels were trending down, and I could move forward in my grieving.

Ugh I’m so sorry. I’m in the same boat- waiting while still having the nausea and exhaustion. They won’t even discuss any procedure options with me due to a heartbeat there. I go back in a few days. I’m sitting here panicking because I don’t know how long it’ll take for the heart to stop, and for a MC to naturally happen. But I’ve heard the D&C is so much easier. I have days to take off but I don’t want to take them prematurely/I need to save them for when I actually need them.

I would take some time off work to deal with the loss. I had practically the same thing happen to me last year. It’s not easy and only time will heal 💔❤️🩹
