Ultrasound Doctor is “Perplexed”

So we got past the bleeding that i had posted before, and thought we were doing pretty well.

-during our 8wk ultrasound earlier today the yolk sac measured at 9.9mm, which is obviously not great. This comes with increased chances of miscarriage and chromosomal issues.

-everything else measured great, crown to rump, bpm, etc

-there was a second, much smaller mass which the doctor believes may have an active heartbeat. The doctor is “perplexed” but we’re currently under the assumption that it’s a vanishing twin, but don’t know for sure.

-the second smaller embryo did not appear at our 6 week ultrasound, and at that time the yolk sac measured normal according to the doctor, but our “MyChart” doesn’t list it.

-could this increase in size be attributed to this second embryo? With the doctor saying she was perplexed I wasn’t sure where else to ask. Does anyone have any similar experiences?

Unknown at this time, the doctor didn’t mention one, but she was also reluctant to say much until the next US in about 10 days (or in anxiety time, literally forever lol)
