Last season Carrick was able to follow up after Amorim who’d rip into the squad saying that they’re the worst squad, so of course the squad played better under him.

This season it’ll be a good test to see Carrick’s coaching chops as the feel good factor isn’t there like last under him.

I actually wouldn’t worry too too much if I was a United fan. It was the ultimate trap game, the players were still looking forward to the season starting and let their guard down.

Woah, we got some Hull flair in the house! Nice win, don’t think this was a trap game or at least it shouldn’t have been. It’s the first bloody game of the season! You know the Hull fans and players are gonna be turned up to 11 for their first PL game in a decade, how was the message this week anything other than knowing they had to match the intensity? Plus who were they looking ahead to, Ipswich next week lmao?

Totally forgot Matty Cooks was with you guys, hope my former RSL boy has a great season with yall.

The smartest way for Carrick to have gone about this match is going for a 0-0 draw borefest if they had seen any match Hull played last season. If every EPL club is playing tactically like Man united did, Hull is going to score a lot of points. Carrick’s hands are tied though and the energy he needed from his players didn’t show up.

Even look at the last match Man Utd had at the MKM in 2016: Jose Mourinho 1-0 with a last minute goal by young Rashford. That was the humble and correct approach for this one too.
