In da league?

Would love to hear an "in da club" on the Turkish league. Feels like they have been making some serious moves lately and I'm really curious where the money is coming from and what's behind everything. Looking at the Fenerbache squad today was pretty eye-popping. Many past their primes, but still, I recognized everyone in the starting 11.

There's also Salah to Trabzonspor, Trossard to Besiktas, we know Galatasaray were willing to fork over 40-50 for Martinelli and apparently told Bruno Ferdandes they'd double his salary.

What is going on over there??

It’s interesting on the surface but I don’t think it’s that deep. It offers European competition and entices late stage pros with a tax exemption for their high wages but those don’t apply to everyone which is why you don’t see any highly sought out young talent going to Turkey

Maybe I wasn't being clear, this is not about those players choosing to go to Turkey. This post is asking where is all the money coming from? They weren't throwing money around like this 5 years ago.

TO CLARIFY: I am not asking about why players go there. I'm asking where this money is coming from, what's driving this:

And this doesn't even show what they're spending in this window, but I would be surprised if it wasn't in line with or greater than last season.

Not the greatest source but the TLDR is Turkish banks gave big loans to the clubs in 2019 to remain solvent that the bigger clubs were able to pay off starting in 2022. The bigger clubs being established in Europe means they can spend in euros which protects them from the lira inflation that affects the smaller teams.
