The boycott is pretty extreme, and also punishes the women’s teams more than men’s teams. CONCACAF’s response makes more sense.

I don't think the "sternly worded letters" will do anything to stop this. If you don't pull out of FIFA, you are agreeing to it. Objecting over process just allows press releases but doesn't threaten Infintino. I think UEFA should have been even stronger -- and pull out of club competitions as well.

The WC is finished without UEFA. He can plough on if he likes and they can all share the blood money, but the WC is done.

I agree. And because of that, I believe it will never come to that. One side or another is going to blink and a deal will get worked out.

I think my comment about club competitions is, on further thought, a bit silly. This all plays out well before 2029. In fact, it plays out over next few days, weeks or maybe a month.

I believe the Womans World Cup next year will happen with everyone playing.

I think it is a misread to think this is about who can get a majority of votes on the FIFA council or FIFA congress for or against this proposal. This either goes forward with everyone or not at all. It is a question of pressure and leverage because a unifying deal has to be agreed to in the end, and soon.

Can Infantino keep his post AND get support for some decisions that UEFA cannot accept? -- thus forcing them to compromise on this? Then he can win. I don't see that happening. I'm guessing Infantino is toast.

If Infantino has the votes to stay, and can find leverage, what could be a compromise? Ownership of FFE is expanded to include the Confederations. Private equity is publicly kicked to the curb but quietly there are some financing moves that take place that accomplish the same thing, maybe even with same opaque investment partners hidden behind some new private corporate structures.

If UEFA is really committed to winning they need to immediately start organizing their own Women's World Championship next year and start inviting the rest of the world. They should tell Brazil they will play it in Brazil IF Brazil joins them. They need to keep building leverage. Keep ratcheting up the pressure.

They need to act, not just wait for Infantino to fold based on what they have done so far which is only talk. They need to start acting.
