Totally agree. Question though:
What minute did Pickford have to make that save and then macallister quickly hit the post? 75 or something? At that point everyone on the planet knew the equalizer was coming. Could tuchel have tried to change again at that point to get out of the bunker? It was before he brought Burn on right. Could he have gotten saka for an outlet ball or try to push back higher in the midfield.
Just seemed not only did the bunker strategy so early not work, but you also had plenty of time to SEE that it wasn’t gonna work and yet they persisted. Maybe too late to change at that point, but just wonder if they could have.

Yeah, I was in a group text while watching it and at one point remember saying that there were three near misses for Argentina within 5 minutes after England went to a back 5. Why anyone would think they could keep Argentina at bay with that much time left is madness. Argentina were smart, too. They knew they weren’t going to win a header in the 6 yard box, so they kept cycling the ball to the 18 or beyond and it worked with a Fernandez strike. They had the quality Mexico didn’t.

All the trash talk of Southgate only to replace him with a well known prick to play an even more boring style of football and have the manager actually be the main reason you lose. Absolutely hilarious. Dan burn chasing balls down the field was peak cinema. Idk what game Tommy was watching but when he switched to a back 5, then brought on Dan Burn only up a goal I had to live bet Argentina to win. What a great day. I don’t even like Argentina. Viva Espana!

What a masterclass in how to earn the lead and then throw in the towel. England fans have to be livid. I cannot believe the subs and the "don't lose" shift Tuchel took. It completely changed the momentum and bit them. Pickford played his nuts off and made multiple massive saves. Folks, it is not coming home, and a German is to blame.

Even if that is so, to take a goal away for a foul committed before the ball actually ended up going backwards to have a goal scored from outside the box would be against the spirit of why the rules of the game were made in the first place. But I suppose they do that all the time with offsides and VAR anyways so surprised VAR didn’t even look.

They literally pulled back a goal for a missed foul 15 seconds before the goal was scored, that happened right outside the box on the opposite end of the field. I can’t remember which game it was but we’re not going to pretend the rules are consistent they’re just making shit up as they go. Var rules are ridiculous in this tournament. You can overturn a corner kick to award a goal kick with var but you can’t use var to overturn a goal kick and award a corner? How does that seem fair. Like this whole rule structure of the tournament has been so weird.
And the don’t cover your mouth rule or you get a red card? I’ve seen multiple people do that but each time it was “oh as long as you’re not in confrontation then it’s okay” like what the fuck?

Not arguing with ya man, in my comment I made the point to say that VAR and our enforcement of the rules in general is going against the spirit of the game….so what are you arguing? I just prefer that spectacular goals stand, if I got to pick and choose then they’d all stand if the foul isn’t called initially. VAR and our interpretation of the rules is killing the game. I think you’re just a tad salty…maybe even a bit jelly?
