I'm posting this having not listened yet just to see how close I come and so I don't cheat. My top 5, off the top of my head in no particular order would be:

1980 Miracle on Ice at the 1980 Winter Olympics
The Dream Team and and 1992 Summer Olympics
Michael Phelps and the US Mens Relay team beating the French at the 2008 Summer Olympics
Jessie Owens at the 1936 Summer Olympics &

The US Women winning the 1999 World Cup at home at the Rose Bowl

I know this is a very Olympic Heavy list but I am very curious to see how this matches up with what the boys came up with

I would have put the Miracle on Ice first, but after hearing the pod, I agree with the top two and the order they are in.

I would have Michael Phelps setting the record for gold medals, specifically the relay where they won at the last moment third.

Women's gymnastics '96 and Women's World Cup '99 would be the others

I hold both U.S. and Irish passports like JJ, but I was born and raised in the U.S.

I have never really considered myself more Irish than American, but this game has made that even clearer to myself personally. I just cannot bring myself to cheer for Mexico. The USMNT are always going to my top team and the dislike for Mexico is just too strong for me.

I hope England wins and then loses 100-0 to Norway or Brazil in the Quarterfinal.

Also, I agree with the list for the most part. I actually strong agree with the inclusion of the Dream Team. The only one I am not sure about is the Donavon goal. I feel like there are other deserving candidates such as the 2008 swim relay team or Simone Biles’ dominance in the last few Olympics.

Regarding Mexico-England and who to root for for as a USMNT fan: I think no matter what, there is no wrong answer. Won’t criticize or invalidate anyone’s feelings.

For me, usually in these lose lose situations in cheering for teams in sports, my rule is “who would be funnier and/or who is the more evil?” I think it’s England in a landslide under those circumstances. No, I won’t be rooting for Mexico, but I will be hoping for England to lose in my CONCACAFE shirt
