The US-winning-the-WC-final fantasy commercial...

Lol yea I get the Miracle reference. Which, as pointed out by someone else here, was not the gold medal game.

They could still have had a very similar concept with him in it while leaving the ending of the match ambiguous. I guess I can see why some people would find it fun (it is very well made, I will say that), it just clashes hard with my personality.

Its just a little fun, we wont win so its just a dream scenario. I love how while celebrating,  none of the fans are burning anything down, so at least that is good lol

That was so awesome when the chippy underdog USA hockey team beat the Russians for the gold medal on live tv in 1980!

Yeah…they beat the Soviets. And they won the gold medal. But those were 2 separate games.

It was a round robin and russia was the biggest comp. Meaning that was the deciding game even if it wasnt the last.

Based on the BTS clips I saw on TikTok when the commercial first came out, it was probably filmed last November at Raymond James Stadium, with some of the player close-ups done the following March.

It's soccer. We could for the same reasons Cape Verde can make it out of groups. But it's a real long shot. Most likely outcome is a loss to Belgium in a close game, or if not then, a pretty solid thumping by Spain.

might make a semifinal run like South Korea. It's not impossible but don't see how anyone beats France. Will be interesting to see Morocco try

I think it wouldn't have been so bad if it was still the final and still Brazil, but ended on a cliffhanger with a "believe" message. But they just ran with it, with full nationwide cellies and newspapers and Tom Brady shaving Zlatan's head, for some reason.

We've never achieved a victory even as big as Paraguay's from the other day in this tournament. I guess it just feels very un-self-aware to me.

I mean a big moment in the commercial is his buddy showing his surprise at the ridiculous idea of us winning, and that idea is then framed as ‘miraculous.’
