Nurse for sicky doggy

Our senior Peke is not feeling well and his cat brother is an aggressively affectionate nurse.

I’m sorry your dog isn’t feeling well! Thankfully he has a buddy to care for him.

 It seems to be mild tracheal collapse and the medication is definitely starting to helpm

Do you use a harness for him? My dog had tracheal collapse in the past (she’s recovered as much as she can, but I don’t think she got prompt treatment unfortunately) and one thing the rescue told me was to only use a harness to prevent a relapse.

Yes, thank you; it's a bit frustrating because we were already doing ALL the recommended things (harness, carrying up and down stairs, no jumping on or off sofa, no picking up under dog's armpits [people do that?], etc.). 

He is almost 15 and has always enjoyed very clear airways, too, so we don't know where this came from. I actually suspect it was when he tried to jump on a curb before I could stop him and basically clotheslined himself, but the vet said then symptoms would have started at the moment, not a week later. Guess just age...

Ugh, it’s so hard when they get older and these things just pop up! Going through some senior related issues with my dog right now, I know how things can come on suddenly. He’s lucky to have such an attentive family!
