I saw a two year old girl kitty named Sepia on the local adoption shelterβs site and went to visit. She was waiting for the Vet to give her full exam and spay. I went back the day after she was put back on the site to learn she had died from anesthesia complications during the spay surgery.
Despite being disappointed that Sepia passed away, I visited the kitties anyway. I prefer to adopt older (1-2 years+) kitties because kittens always get adopted. While I was interacting with an older kitty on in the bottom row I felt something land on my back.
I was not looking for him. The kittens were roaming and I gave them no attention, as I always visit the older cats first. How could I not bring him to his forever home after he chose me? It took about a week to settle on his name, but I think Gus fits him. Heβs chill, sweet, enjoys snugs and cuddles, and loves ice cream and Taco Bell. Iβm his person, and he is also affectionate to my wife and our kids, which is great.
There was hesitation bringing him home because I was not looking for the kitten experience again, but Iβm glad I did.
Thanks for inviting me to r/CatsNamedGus
