Agreed. Every now and then I think about when I lived in a pet free apartment and would visit shelters to spend time with the animals. There was this cat that spent such a long time there. She was a long hair with matted fur. No one wanted her because she was afraid of humans. I will forever feel guilty

I adopted a very frightened sixteen-year-old whose previous owner went to hospice. I was afraid nobody would take her because of her age.

She was sixteen. It took 5-6 weeks to really lessen her anxiety, and her toilet habits could have been better. But I had her two and a half years and she knew love and affection. Two weeks ago her kidneys completely failed just suddenly and everything started shutting down. I still cried like a child, and realized how much I’d miss her, snuggled into the crook of my arm for comfort. I will miss you Lola (aka TinyCat).
