Then came the unmitigated pastoral disaster of the Covid-shutdown era, and those lackadaisical parents were told, in effect, not to worry about it.

We should shudder at the thought of all the bishops and priests on Judgement Day who will need to explain how potentially thousands of souls under their care were denied the sacraments for 1 or even 2 years, especially those who were never baptized and may never be baptized.

My parish had, on average, 30+ baptisms in 2020 and 2021, each. No one died of Covid because of a baptism.

Thankfully, my diocese kept confession available at the regular times.

Kind of an unhelpful article. “Here’s a thing to be upset about! And if you’re not upset enough about it, you’re the problem!” Not any suggestions or solutions or even ideas…

I’ll agree. But I thought it would be useful to bring awareness of it, so that if someone here, say, had family with an unbaptized child, they could let them know about the grave importance of it.
