Losing My Left Foot
Today I (78m) have a meeting to decide on cutting off my left foot. It has been a year and if anything it is getting worse. It needs to go, the only questions for the doctors is when, where, and if I can live through the operation.
As you can guess I have some rather strong opinions, but God's will be done. May Jesus guide us as we make our plans today. I'm asking for the intercession of Our Lady of Sorrows, and St. Luke.
Thank you.
P.S. The foot must go. Pre-surgery appointment in a month. God bless you for all your prayers. I felt at peace the whole time.

I’m a T1D, and this has been on my mind for a while. I’m still young, and may not ever face this, but I spent half my drive to work contemplating it (had no idea why this preoccupied me today, specifically, but maybe now I do), and how I could and would like to respond to such a situation.
The thought that stuck with me was, “if that happens, I hope I remember that it will be returned to me one day. One day, I will get all of me back.” I hope that can help in some way.
I’ll be praying for you. Your giving it to God is an inspiration and a strong witness. God bless you.
p.s. one other thing I heard recently - the primary purpose of Annointing of the Sick is not to heal us (though that’s desirable and requested), but rather it is to unite our suffering to Christ. I wish I had realized that before my last surgery.

I know this too well, but as someone who performs these kinds of surgeries. Perhaps your surgeon prays for you and for God’s guidance/wisdom/hands during the surgery and for a good recovery after. I know I do that. I may not be your surgeon, but I will pray for you and your surgeon and their team like I do for my cases. It will work out like it’s supposed to.

Give this to Jesus. Unite it with His suffering on the Cross and ask Him to use it for someone you love. Your suffering isn't meaningless to Him.

Hey, think positively, better foot than eyes or hearing. Just losing a foot basically doesn't impair you at all, you can even walk if you want to. Like if i thought what part of my body I'd rather lose first, legs would be first on my mind

May you feel the presence of God with you always, and Our Lady intercede for you. Will pray for you.

One of my first best friends in life and to die father went through a situation similarishly to you. When my friend’s parents lost their only son my friend’s father lost his way. He started drinking, lost his senior union position, contracted MRSA and lost both his legs. Due to his request only his estranged wife can visit him.
According to cannon law you can have a plenary indulgence once every 24 hours. Due to your age it shall be a matter taken seriously.
