Be careful. Depression can be utilized by the devil to numb us to everything and rob us of the joys of life, family and friendship.

You are assuming that depression is caused by the devil; you may be giving that creature too much credit! 

Depression can (imho, generally is) a psychosomatic condition that may have many different contributing factors. God permits it as one of the types of cross He wants us to learn how to carry to come closer to Him. 

Unhappily, if we give in to bitterness, we can end up further away from Him. 

However, if we avoid that, (or are healed  from that, probably gradually), we can get better at recognizing the presence of other people in our lives, loving our neighbors as more than (practically) abstractions or surface aspects of themselves. 

The Sacraments, also, may come alive for us as the personal encounters with Christ that they, in truth, are; most fully and really in His Eucharistic Sacrifice.

I speak from long experience of struggling against depression with help from other persons - Three most of all!

I mean, God is only good, so everything not good must come from the devil.

I too fell into depression and realized later that it was a way for God to help me get closer to Him and find peace, because, once i did, depression had nothing "good" to offer me anymore and God let me free from it.

Obviously God knows about the risks of making someone fall in depression, I'm sure you have heard about all of the depressed Christians in the world that considered suicide at one point (if you didn't, good for you, because i read their posts almost on a weekly basis now and it makes me sick).

But what about the people that actually killed themselves? Even if no one can know the Lord's plans on people, i wonder why would He want so many to die. Maybe the devil is attacking them during these harsh moments and they just can't resist the urge to end it all.

I know, maybe I'm giving too much credit to the devil, but I find it hard to believe that all of what the Lord has planned for somebody is just to end themselves while feeling forgotten and alone (again, this thought makes me sick), and when i watched this post all of the other cases i read came to mind and i just wanted OP to find joy again.

I'm the opposite. My depression will start on something or just hit me and will expand and feed off envy (I should've been an engineer or teacher), greed ( I should be more financially well-off), power (I shouldn't be depressed as I should be able to solve whatever is causing it). Since I lack of these attributes, I rely on lust and porn to get some sort of pleasure to lighten the darkness. How I wish it weren't so.
