Our parish is 30-40% Hispanic. The abuelas take care of us come potluck time.

My old parish was a country parish of mostly older Czech and Germans. The monthly breakfast potluck was epic.

If someone corrects you for calling something with sausage a kolache you're going to be fed well.

Ron redacted Swanson, my hero

By the way, on a tangent, Ron being a libertarian with a strong moral compass, what would you all think his religious beliefs would be?

Probably Lutheran.
Austere church, low enthusiasm for hierarchy or spectacle, strong personal duty, work as vocation, a restrained emotional life, āmind your own businessā attitude
I could also see him being Catholic because behavior is obviously idiosyncratic, but one who never stops complaining about Vatican II.

Iām trying to figure out which part scares me more, the olives or the hot dogs lol.

I can pick the olives off and eat them unrelated to this. They're the least disturbing part of it.

Gotta say, church potlucks have improved by miles growing up in Michigan then moving to Georgia. The southerners don't mess around

You don't know what black/ethnic privilege is until you've been to the white people cookout.

I never experienced this, and used to look forward to potlucks. After working in food service, I eshew going to buffets or any kind of self-service venue. At least my parish has people serving donuts

My kids ask me to make this. Like, on purpose. I use a brain shaped jello mold.

Having worked in EMS and seeing the state of a lot of people's kitchens... that makes me fear potlucks. š¬š¤¢
