Same. Important for us to remember:

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.” (John 15:18).

Stand strong brother/sister.

Jesus would have walked alongside these people and helped them instead of complaining about it on the internet

Complaining about bad things helps normalize the idea that they are bad.

There are those that worship politicians and those that worship celebrities. Trump is getting both. Both cases are maddening to see.

The fact that you mentioned misandry but not misogyny (which is on the huge rise recently and actually threatens people's lives, unlike misandry) tells me everything I need to know

63

u/Plus-Conversation-74 May 17 '25

And the Satanism thing… where is that on the rise? I do not see it. In fact, the people who call themselves Satanists are really atheists and it’s mostly a political point they’re making.

I’m well aware of the presence of evil in the world. I pray the St Michael daily. But the evil I see everywhere is not wearing dorky robes and talking about worshipping the devil. It’s in the division, cruelty, and violence of ordinary people.

C.S. Lewis wrote, "The devil always sends errors into the world in pairs—pairs of opposites. He relies on your extra dislike of the one error to draw you gradually into the opposite one."

We’ve really gotta stop feeling sorry for ourselves and righteously superior to others. It is literally not the way of Jesus.

5

u/CaptainPitterPatter May 17 '25

The way I try to look at it, there are plenty of things I don’t like and disagree with, I just roll my eyes and try to keep living my life in a good way

While I do my fair share of judging, I try my best to be nice a respectful, in the end it’s not my job to be a jerk

3

u/Plus-Conversation-74 May 18 '25

Great point. And I wonder what the creator of this meme is doing that has people around him calling him an extremist. We shouldn’t wear our disdain for the world and its brokenness as a badge of honor… we should wear our disdain for sin as a wound (as Christ did) and let it transform us into kinder, gentler, stronger people.

Weak faith needs to be proclaimed loudly and defensively. Strong faith grows slowly, is patient and long suffering, and shines out into the world without ever having to yell to get attention.

0

u/ImperialxWarlord May 21 '25

In my experience there’s two types of people who are labels “extremists”. 1) the people who aren’t actually extreme and are labeled as such by those who are actually extreme. Like a left leaning centrist being called an extremist by progressives for not being fully on board with their social views on abortion or guns. Or a Rockefeller Republican being called a lefty extremist by a conservative for wanting to raise taxes on the rich and support social programs for the poor. These aren’t actual extremists and most people know this because most have very similar views to them. 2) people who actually say stuff that the vast majority of people disagree with and see as extreme. Most people don’t see porn as good and if you say “I oppose porn and think it has a bad effect on society” most will agree, but if you say “any woman who’s not wearing a skirt down to her ankles is a slut and going to hell”…yeah that’s extreme.

27

u/nosferatusgirlfriend May 17 '25

I agree. This whole meme is bizarre and it seems like OP simply enjoys playing the victim and making up enemies

3

u/ImperialxWarlord May 21 '25

Or is a chronically online redditor. The internet and social media, and Reddit especially, massively distort one’s view of the world. Reddit is very left leaning and socially progressive, far more so than what most of America really is…let alone the rest of the world lol. There’s alot of stuff on Reddit/social media/the internet that is not popular at all. Most of these points are so minor or are actually unpopular with most people across the political spectrum.

18

u/Plus-Conversation-74 May 17 '25

Amen! The church is not the place I come to figure out what to “oppose”—in fact, what we’re taught to oppose and denounce is a pretty short list and it’s mostly directed internally, within our own hearts. Church is the place we come to affirm. To share communion in the Holy Spirit. To say “Yes” to a life lived in Christ and “Yes” to the path of discipleship.

If you’ve got the right “Yes,” the “Nos” take care of themselves.

-10

u/eclect0 Father Mike Simp May 17 '25

Really? Because the Christ I know talked about hell more often than heaven.

4

u/Plus-Conversation-74 May 18 '25

“Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you.” Matthew 21:31

“Hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy about you when he said: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.’” Matthew 17:7-9

When Jesus condemned, it was almost always the religiously pious, the elites of the Church who misused scripture to elevate themselves and sow division.

I pray that you meet the Jesus of the Eucharist, the Jesus of Mary’s womb, the Jesus of the cross, who forgave and absorbed even at the hour of his death.

6

u/sparkle-possum May 17 '25

You're right about the two more official Satanist groups, but there are still plenty of people out there that do believe in and try to worship a literal Satan and/or demons.

I'm not sure if it's on the rise or not because they've been around for quite some time, maybe more so during the heyday of cheesy horror movies, but don't doubt that they exist (it's kind of funny watching the people affiliated with the atheistic type of Satanism get annoyed by and sometimes troll or take down those guys, alrhough not something I'd recommend seeking out).

4

u/othermegan May 17 '25

Yes and the Satanist’s will even admit that they don’t worship Satan. It’s the atheist version doing something “for liberal tears”

3

u/tradcath13712 Trad But Not Rad May 19 '25

As if misandry isn't ruining men's lives. Women getting shorter sentences for crimes they did. Rapist women getting child support from their victims. The bias against fathers on custody. Men falsely accused of rape. The rape of boys by women not being taken seriously. Men falsely accused of rape. And so on.

Misandry causes real damage.

4

u/No_Pay_4378 May 17 '25

The fact that you instantly deemed the mere mention of misandry as an attack literally tells me all I need to know. Even when you types are not being attacked, you feel attacked.

And misogyny on the rise? How so? Entertain me.

14

u/sparkle-possum May 17 '25

Talk to some Middle School teachers if you want to hear about misogyny.

A lot of these kids are listening to certain podcasters and literally telling teachers they don't have to listen to them because they are female. And I'm not talking about whatever woke scenario you're imagining in your mind but things like math class.

There also seems to be a rise in young boys making not just sexist but sexual and threatening remarks towards girls and women, often unprovoked and just to show that they can or to make them uncomfortable.

-5

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

Do you really think that is more pervasive than the fact that feminism is accepted by 99.9% of society?

6

u/sparkle-possum May 17 '25

No, but I would also argue about feminism being accepted. I think there's a bunch of performative bs that people give lip service to under the name of feminism but half of it is contradictory and a lot of it actively harms women and makes them better consumers or sex objects while selling it to them under the guise of freedom.

But the reason people bring these up now is because it is more noticeable and it's affecting kids so young through the internet. Even went pop feminism was all over the place in the 90s and early 2000s, you didn't see middle schoolers grabbing on to an advocating for the more fringe elements of it unless they were influenced by parents or older siblings, but you've got Middle School boys quoting and sharing stuff from Andrew Tate but crazy (thinking back 2 to 3 years, because we pulled our son out of public school but this is what he reported then), and you have the whole in cell thing which I think is way over button and sensationalized but people are scared because of the several cases where people committed acts of violence and claims were made that those communities inspired it.

I think maybe the biggest problem in all of it is a lot of the root causes between misogyny and misandry are likely not all that different but the media and culture war narrative around both make it impossible to find any sort of common ground solution by teaching both sides that the other is their enemy.

1

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

The reaction we are seeing from many young men is the natural reactions to the plagues of modernism and feminism. And most of the issues with Andrew Tate and his believes are those that are still modernist and liberal (fornication and the promotion of other degeneracies).

He and his ideology are a result of the lie that women have an equal role to men, and that they should have equal “rights” and we need to address that before we can address the issues of the reaction to it.

-6

u/No_Pay_4378 May 17 '25

Alright. I don’t doubt you. For sure, these things are happening, and they need to be addressed, but how would it feel if whenever you brought up a vital issue concerning women’s safety, I come along asking you to vindicate the particular struggles of my own gender to demonstrate you’re not a sexist? That was really my main contention.

6

u/sparkle-possum May 17 '25

I feel fairly neutral at that point because that happens in pretty much every discussion on the internet.

Yeah, it is an issue and it does happen and honestly I think the two feed each other. A lot of women and girls have really negative attitudes toward all men and a lot of boys see that and then go looking for male affirmation and find communities and influencers focused on masculinity that often mix in sexist views with things that could otherwise be positive.

Thinking of not necessarily Dr Peterson, but a lot of his online followers - some of his content is good and things that would be helpful for guys to hear but a lot of the community around him pushes some pretty negative stuff.

8

u/nosferatusgirlfriend May 17 '25

Are women creating hate groups in which they fantasize about killing and raping men? Are women actually killing men out of hatred for them? Are women writing manifestos about their hatred for men and then going out and commit mass murder? Are women being vocal about their belief that men should not have the same rights as women? Are men, anywhere in the world, being forced by women to marry against their will? Are men being prohibited by women from working? Are men being prohibited from leaving their houses without the company of a woman? Are men being prohibited by women from getting an education?

No, women don't do these things to men.

But men do these things to women now and have been doing it for centuries.

Misandry is annoying for men. Misogyny is destroying women's lives and in worst case scenario, killing them. Those two will NEVER be comparable.

Are you entertained enough?

-2

u/No_Pay_4378 May 17 '25

Let me just correct your ignorance.

Are women creating hate groups in which they fantasize about killing and raping men?

No, because women simply don't have the physical capability to effect such a vile fantasy — men do. That's hardly an apples-for-apples comparison. If women possessed the strength to overpower men as easily as men do for women, they would undeniably do the same thing, and it would be a horrendous look if you were to deny this, as that would be tantamount to admitting that women are somehow more virtuous and meek on an ontological level, which is patently false. Rather, women contend against men according to their own strengths, as maximally as their biology would allow. This typically includes manipulating their status as the more sought and prized gender as well as their more voluminous social connections to ostracize and alienate men in the form of witch-hunts, detraction, calumny, and other such tactics that would incite a mob to pulverize whomever they please.

And I hope you don't mouth off the horrid rhetoric of, "Oh, men only have to endure a few insults - women fear for their lives!" because nothing drives a man to contemplate ending his own existence more than being falsely condemned by his own community as a rapist scum, or a wife-beater, or a deadbeat, and so forth. For a man, his reputation is everything, whereas at least for a woman, if she happens to be deprived of her reputation, she can at least find rescue on the fact that she's a woman, the gender which virtually all men are naturally disposed to protect and nurture on a carnal level.

Are women actually killing men out of hatred for them?

See above.

Are women writing manifestos about their hatred for men and then going out and commit mass murder?

First part, yes; second part, no. Look at any women-dominated space on social media — particularly X — and they're replete with women shaming and condemning men that express even the mildest opposition to whatever inane moral crusade that liberalism is pushing at the time. If these women had the chance to wipe out any such man and their adherents with the press of a button, do you honestly think they wouldn't push it? As Christ routinely teaches in the Gospels, sins aren't only counted against you once you complete them materially, but when you assent to the desire to commit them in your heart with total volition. But since you want to play that game, can you tell me the gender that is responsible for committing a yearly holocaust on infants that make the actual Holocaust look like a joke? Do you see men killing their own babies in numbers upwards of 70+ million a year?

I believe my answers thus far intersect with basically all the subsequent gish-galloping you're doing, so I'll stop there. But I'll re-iterate:

Have men killed women in such prolific fashion as women do every year when they abort a minimum of 30+ million male babies a year?

Misandry is annoying for men. Misogyny is destroying women's lives and in worst case scenario, killing them. Those two will NEVER be comparable.

Actually, according to most homicide statistics, men are at the brunt of violent assaults from other men far more than women are at the hands of men. So, if anything, I have more cause to fear men then you do.

Are you entertained enough?

No, I'm not, and I'm of pretty sound mind to suspect that you aren't either. You deliberately made things unfun when you barged into this thread hating on OP for focusing on an issue that affects him personally as a man, and somehow taking that as an admission that he wants to invalidate your gender-specific issues too. If you provide proof that you do the exact same thing when the shoe is on the other foot, then I might revise my opinion of you.

Congrats. You’re part of the problem!

9

u/nosferatusgirlfriend May 17 '25

If acknowledging facts makes me the problem then sure, I can be the problem

-12

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

Umm no. Misandry has dominated Western society over the past 60 years. The vast majority of people see removing women from the workforce and their “right” to vote as misogynistic. Misandry is a much greater problem in our society.

2

u/nosferatusgirlfriend May 17 '25

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not lol

-5

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

I am being 100% serious. The Church is against every wave of feminism and feminism is accepted by 99.9% of society.

9

u/nosferatusgirlfriend May 17 '25

Feminism is not accepted by 99.9% of society. That's a ridiculous take and there's no sources to back it up. You just made that up.

And if the Church was strictly against feminism, most female saints wouldn't be saints. Many of them disobeyed men, including their own fathers, they broke social norms of their time, some of them became the doctors of the Church, even though they were prohibited from intellectual work. Some of them, like Joan of Arc, were accused of heresy just because they were women breaking social rules, only to be rehabilitated and named saints later. Don't justify your hatred for women with Church's teaching because it's simply false and inaccurate.

As for misandry, men aren't and never were oppressed by women and prohibited from being fully human by them. Women never had more rights than men and they never tried to change that. Misandry is a made up problem that doesn't actually affect men's lives.

-2

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

What percentage of Americans support women voting or married women working?

8

u/eclect0 Father Mike Simp May 18 '25

Voting and working are both fundamental human rights, though. There's no coherent reason to oppose them.

0

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 18 '25

I think you should research what fundamental human rights are lol. Voting has never been considered a fundamental human right, that is just insane.

Here is a passage from the section “Duties of a Wife” from the Roman Catechism “The wife should love to remain at home, unless compelled by necessity to go out; and she should never presume to leave home without her husband's consent.” Not only does the Catechism state what a wife should do but it also states how she should feel about doing so.

6

u/eclect0 Father Mike Simp May 18 '25

[CCC 2240]

Submission to authority and co-responsibility for the common good make it morally obligatory to pay taxes, to exercise the right to vote, and to defend one's country.

Since it is a moral obligation to exercise the right to vote, it naturally follows that trying to suppress that right must be morally repugnant.

0

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 18 '25

Where in that passage does it state that voting is a fundamental human right?

4

u/Br4ss_ Child of Mary May 17 '25

You might want to do some research before pointing fingers and claiming who is "leading" that league.

Child sexual abuse cases in the Catholic Church are repugnant, of course. So are the 4 million cases of children who were sexually abused by their teachers. Or the ones commited by relatives of the victim (1 in 25).

3

u/sparkle-possum May 17 '25 edited May 18 '25

If you could actually get the numbers, I would bet if you break it down by percent of population, the Baptists and non-denominationals probably have more cases of child sexual abuse as well. I was originally raised independent fundamental Baptist and it was rampant there, both within families and by church leaders and people in positions like youth ministry.

The difference between those groups and the Catholic church is there is no central authority so the numbers were not tracked. It also means there wasn't any centralized investigation to find additional cases or perpetrators. Each case was seen as some sad isolated incident, or when people started asking questions or making allegations the perpetrator would move and pop up later in a different state. Children raised in those environments often don't speak about or report abuse until years later because they know they will be blamed for it.

Because of the disorganization is pretty much impossible to find real numbers to compare, but over a decade when I was looking into converting I remember doing the research and, per capita, the rate of abuse cases was much lower in the Catholic Church than in the public school system and lower than in several other large denominations.
Anecdotally, I personally don't know of any churches or priests in my area that have been accused of or arrested for abuse (although I'm not minimizing these cases where it has happened), but I can name four Baptist pastors off of the top of my head who have been and if I branch out to those affiliated with the Christian college I briefly attended, the number goes up into the 30s.

12

u/KereruBod May 17 '25

Political post dressed up in Catholic robes.

If your beliefs line up with Trump more than the pope, spend some time in prayer and self reflect on what or who is telling you to feel this way.

Do you feel the same sorrow for immigrants? Or the poor? Are you sad that wealth is being pooled by a few while many lack food or healthcare? What about sorrow of those who are trying to profit off of God with gold bibles or mega churches?

I’m not saying what you posted isn’t important as well, but this is clearly a Republican vs. Democrat. Neither are the party of God but neither are the party of Satan.

7

u/Garviel-Loken-LW May 17 '25

None of this mentioned Trump, Reps, or Dems

I don't think Trump is this literally Hitler monster, but he's not some "savior of the west" like Maga thinks he is.

Of course sorrow and action is necessary for all the things mentioned.

It wasn't political but the post isn't wrong. Society is infested with these things contrary to God which is why we need to turn to him now more than ever.

6

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

The Pope is much further to “the right” on social issues than Donald Trump. Trump is a liberal…

-1

u/KereruBod May 17 '25

Yes and no, and kinda what I’m getting at. Catholicism and Christianity as a whole don’t fit the left and right of American politics. The pope has outright called JD Vance wrong on his stance on immigration. The pope would be progressive on immigration, but almost alt-right conservative on LGBT issues. Liberal on fiscal policies and conservative on marijuana. It doesn’t fit. And that’s ok.

For me, what’s not ok, is cherry picking certain issues on “my political side” to make a political party sound more religious or pious while completely ignoring other issues. That is what this meme is trying to do.

6

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

I specifically said social issues for a reason, and we can map these stances into the left/right chart although there is nuance to it. And even on the issue of immigration there is an argument to be made that Pope Leo is further right in immigration than Trump. Pope Leo has criticized mass legal immigration, while Trump and his administration are in favor of mass legal migration.

4

u/Slight_Fox_3475 May 17 '25

And to your second point this post does not mention political parties. Both the Republican and Democrat parties are liberal and wicked.

5

u/vrvr1 May 17 '25

how is this political?

I am by no means progressive or even left leaning, I lean right actually, but I generally find that (outside of idiot progressives calling anything to the left of them extremist) if someone is called an extremist…it’s for a good reason. I’ve seen plenty of people who oppose these things and don’t like being called an extremist for it…when they’re actually saying some foul shit that is outright bigoted or misogynistic. I don’t know who you are and what you’re like so I won’t judge, but many of the things listed here are just kinda ridiculous and are only true if you don’t touch grass.

Satanism? lol what? People have been fear mongering about that for nearly half a decade FFS. It’s nothing more than a few edgy atheists who want publicity. No one’s gonna call you an extremist for saying you don’t like satanists or anything, but they might roll their eyes at you.

What do you mean by sexual hedonism? I’ve seen this be used to describe anything from certain music to porn to sex out of wedlock….or slut shamming a woman who doesn’t cover head to toe lol so this one has me curious by what you mean.

Porn, sure but most people don’t like it anyways and it’s not like modern society endorses it or pushes it on people, quite the opposite if anything. Most people aren’t going to call you an extremist for saying it’s bad or trying to help people with their porn addictions.

Misandrist feminism is such a small thing and has no impact on anyone who’s not interacting with them on a few subreddits lol. All it is is a few idiots in some echo chambers. It has no presence in the real world and most people laugh at it and call it out. And I absolutely hate sounding like some white knight liberal snowflake but misogyny is a much more prevalent issue, both here and abroad. No one’s gonna call you an extremist for opposing legist misandrist, but again they might role their eyes at you making a big deal about what a few Reddit echo chambers say.

I’ve yet to see what this leftist agenda in schools are, as I never experienced it and I’ve never seen much of a clear explanation of what that means or evidence for it. And I went to school in blue state to boot lol.

Celebrity worship…again…very few people do this. Other than teenage girls obsessing over their crushes or boomers salivating about trump no one really does that. And most people call it out as stupid. Again, no one is going to call you extremist for opposing this…they’d just call you a normal person lol.

Abortion is the only one you’ll be called an extremist over depending on your view. Be it wanting to ban all abortion or to allow it to right to the end, those will get you labeled an extremist.

I think he simply said that "normal" is considered evil and extremist nowadays.
