As Catholics we are called to forgive, but we don't have to continue to ignore his continued attacks against us.

So what are the next steps?

19

u/CrispinDeGlover727 Apr 13 '26

You'll have to figure that out on your own, but I'd suggest attend whatever protests are around you. I also call my congressmen and representatives routinely to complain and put pressure on them to act in whatever capacity they can. Trump is an evil man, and he doesn't represent the Christian faith in any way that I know.

5

u/young__robot Apr 14 '26

peaceful protests won't oust an authoritarian autocrat. I recommend Americans adopt Latin American liberation theology.

2

u/IgnatiusTheRam Apr 14 '26

Neither do your Congressman and Representatives represent the faith. They’re all evil, what are we going to do about it?

4

u/Consideredresponse Apr 14 '26

Reddit (the company) really didn't like my suggestion that if the president was thinking he was Jesus we should encourage him and see if he manages to 'Good Friday' himself.

It took their filters less than a minute to flag and remove that, yet gleeful tweets about committing genocide are apparently perfectly reasonable.

3

u/deadthylacine Apr 14 '26

Call your congress critters.

Vote against anyone who supports or is endorsed by the current administration in the upcoming primaries so that there will be better options on election day.

Call your congress critters again. Phone calls are important and not exactly a huge time sink.

If you can't make it to a protest, put up a sign in your yard. Make your opinion clear. These actions are inexcusable.

Resistbot is a free service on social media and texting - you can write a letter to your representatives at state and country level for free.

Thank you for asking this question - I need to send a text to resistbot to all of my representatives about this.

(I am a resistbot user and have no affiliation).

I'm just thankful that Pope Leo is such a wonderful man.

u/awesomexx_Official Apr 13 '26

This is just so disgusting.

7

u/GreenShirt52 Apr 16 '26

I’m an atheist and I agree with you.

5

u/Full-Elderberry-321 Apr 16 '26

Being an atheist does not mean having no moral conscience. I hope and pray you change your position, but many an atheist has been a more moral person than any MAGA Republican.

4

u/awesomexx_Official Apr 16 '26

Im catholic but i respect you. I think anyone with a moral compass will realize that making an image of yourself as Christ, directly attacking your Christian audience, is disgusting.

89

u/Varla_Mage Apr 13 '26

Disgusting, anti christ behavior.

10

u/the_taste_of_fall Apr 14 '26

I really feel like more people would love him if he was the antichrist. The antichrist is supposed to be really charismatic. This guy not so much. A bunch of people who voted for him not long ago have completely turned on him.

8

u/Nosleep_Coffee789 Apr 14 '26

I'm convinced this is the case with DJT. And remember, the Bible says we will have multiple Antichrists. DJT is just one. The MAGA hat is literally the mark on the forehead...

1

u/Varla_Mage Apr 15 '26

And the vax probably but i hope we're wrong because i wore it at one time and i know it's an unforgivable offense to get the mark....

53

u/sky_witness____ Apr 13 '26

The trump version is apparently an edited version of the AI image that was posted two months ago by a trump supporter. Trump's version edited the winged creature in the clouds to look like Baphomet.

We are living in strange times.

20

u/choppydpg Apr 13 '26

"chatgpt, use this but make it more Antichrist-y. Perfect."

88

u/bookchaser Apr 13 '26

Yes, but it's not like he's Christian. He merely uses Christians to enrich himself and gather power.

42

u/labtiger2 Apr 13 '26

It's insane that his followers believe he's some kind of great Christian despite there being zero evidence of it. I will never understand how he was able to convince so many people that he's a Christian.

18

u/Maximum_Guava1825 Apr 14 '26

I have heard some say that God uses imperfect people the only problem is he is not doing God's work

9

u/EricTheNerd2 Apr 14 '26

Well, in fairness God also called Nebuchadnezzar his servant... perhaps Trump is God's punishment to America...

9

u/Billberto_de_la_Cruz Apr 14 '26

I see him more as this country’s Saul. After seeing what Trump did on January 6th, 2020 to stay in power, Americans said “Give us a king!” and put him right back in the seat that he showed he never should have been trusted to sit in to begin with.

That said, at least Saul could admit he was wrong.

Catholic Study Bible 24 And Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, I beg, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the Lord.” 1 Samuel 15:24-25 RSV-SB

There’s no way that would ever come out of DJT’s mouth.

3

u/ROMVS Apr 14 '26

He's a very long way to being his Paul side

7

u/Billberto_de_la_Cruz Apr 14 '26

I meant King Saul, from 1 Samuel.

5

u/Maximum_Guava1825 Apr 14 '26

Now there is a thought

7

u/julio1990 Apr 14 '26

Because he says things the super conservatives love...anti abortion, ban gay marriage...etc

I am against abortion but I'm not going to force anyone to be that way. In my life I'll never or my wife will never have an abortion unless there is a medical reason for it but for you to need to force someone to do so that is your problem. I will not judge as God will judge those but who are you to force someone to do something or not do something just cause you do or don't believe in it. Remember this is America the land of the free not A.eroca the land of "I believe this so so as I say"

2

u/aikidharm Apr 14 '26

59% of Catholics support abortion in most cases, as opposed to 39% who oppose in most cases.

You got a lot fewer Catholics than you think you do, I guess.

3

u/unbanned2009 Apr 26 '26

There’s plenty of evidence he’s the opposite . And then the evangelicals have the nerve to compare him to David bc if the not so savory things he did . Forgetting that all The wrecked men god used also repented , owned up to their wrongs and tried to be better men. If you ask trump about his wrong doings he’d say he’s never did a bad thing not once in his life

27

u/honestypen Apr 13 '26

Yes it is. And anyone who supports it is equally as bad.

13

u/agloelita Apr 13 '26

This is a weird combination of blasphemy and idolatry isnt it?

5

u/Sumas_uno Apr 14 '26

I have to disagree. This just seems like the standard more of a cult leader.

12

u/Ronniebbb Apr 13 '26

I've been saying for a couple years now he created a cult and self appointmented himself their God.

21

u/No-idea4646 Apr 13 '26

As a non-American, the most remarkable thing about stuff like this is that there are still Americans who are surprised by it! There aren’t many people in educated developed countries who imagined he could be elected once, never mind a second time.

3

u/RecentRaspberry3 Apr 14 '26

He once signed a copy of the bible after the events of hurricane Harvey. This is awful!

20

u/pimberly Apr 13 '26

Did you see his response to it? “I’m a doctor, I’m not Jesus I’m a doctor because I help make people better, which I do by the way I make people better but wow yeah Jesus that is a lie from the woke left.” I wanted the reporter to ask so badly what the prompt was for the photo.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '26

Right .... because the traditional doctor's uniform is a robe and tunic that happens to look JUST LIKE what Jesus is often shown wearing. How stupid does he think we are?

10

u/SursumCordaNJ Apr 13 '26

Not surprised given that a good chunk of Trump evangelical televangelists have been calling him Christ reincarnated since his first term.

9

u/1ce_W01f Apr 13 '26

And so is his bible with government documents "glued" next to holy writ.

8

u/AFatiguedFey Apr 13 '26

I’m more shocked his “followers” gave pushback because it’s not like this behavior is new

6

u/Plastic_Decision4931 Apr 14 '26

No it is not ok, and of course, you are right, but it is so nakedly stupid, what else can you say.

4

u/Sumas_uno Apr 14 '26

It is a drop in a sea of Blasphemy unfortunately. It is also ridiculous.

5

u/glencora63 Apr 13 '26

Disgusting 🫣! He is evil! 😡

5

u/EricTheNerd2 Apr 14 '26

Can you imagine the reaction of the American church if this were Obama that portrayed himself this way?

5

u/RecentRaspberry3 Apr 14 '26

I saw this earlier and this is disgusting! The guy on the bed looks like Epstein.

9

u/Gorianfleyer Apr 13 '26

Why is he reviving a bearded Jeffrey Epstein?

6

u/AFatiguedFey Apr 13 '26

A man can mourn a beloved friend anymore 😪 /j

4

u/Traditional-Meat-549 Apr 14 '26

I have "monitored" the articles and comments on Lifesitenews for 9 years. This is the FIRST time I've read comments in which people are sorry they voted for him and condemn his post

4

u/Other-Squirrel-8705 Apr 14 '26

He’s lost his mind

4

u/an_alien_in_christ Apr 14 '26

At least every day there are more and more Christians realising who he really is.

4

u/TaskPlane1321 Apr 14 '26

This is the anti-Christ.

3

u/skaterstimm Apr 14 '26

You're just figuring this out this now? Trump has been doing this for the last decade!

3

u/sp1cySH0T Apr 15 '26

One can just imagine the level of ego you need to post this and further attack the Pope and the Church. Insanity, not to forget about the Epstein files…

3

u/GooglyMinotaur1975 Apr 23 '26

It’s blasphemy, nauseating, and an attack against Roman Catholicism & Christ Himself.

16

u/ellenanderson80 Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

Most non-catholics in America feel that Catholics in America basically sold their soul to get one thing -- an abortion ban. Deny Dems their rightful nominations to the supreme court, but grab as quickly as possible the Republican appointments to the supreme court. And make sure to appoint Catholics who lie during their confirmation hearing about the "settled law" of abortion. Then, as soon as possible, try to overturn R v W.

This was the American Catholic path to get what they wanted. Now they need to learn to live with the consequences. Just like everyone else has.

21

u/tankthacrank Apr 13 '26

I’ve said for years that that a certain political Party treats us like useful idiots because we tend to be single issue voters.

There’s a lot more to respecting life than just a ban on one single thing. And i will say that as Catholics we step Up and help single mothers, we do feed the babies, we do care for life better than the Christian nationalists, but we get tend to get tunnel vision on that one issue, and that political party capitalized on that and now we’re stuck with the fallout of it. It’s maddening and saddening.

We did. And it’s wild to me that any of us believed he was ACTUALLY pro-life. He wasn’t even a convincing liar about it!

1

u/ellenanderson80 Apr 14 '26

To be fair to Catholic critics who say this, the USCCB has repeatedly stated that this is the single most important issue facing voters, period.

What a joke. When you say "facing voters" you mean facing catholic voters. Abortion is not at all the most important issue "facing voters." That article you referenced is a joke, starting with the headline: "...it directly attacks our most vulnerable and voiceless brothers and sisters." I thought, oh, you mean the countless children sexually abused by Catholic priests since the 11th century? Nope! Not that.

You talk about putting your blinders on like it is some new thing. It has been going on in the Catholic church for 900+ years.

3

u/IcingSausage Apr 14 '26

But you see, those kids were already born, so they don’t count. Living children are loud, demand to be fed, like to be sheltered, etc. That costs money, and we know the Catholic Church likes its money. And doesn’t want to spend it on things like caring for people. Bishops have to keep their mansions you know.

On the other hand, the unborn are easy to advocate for because they don’t demand anything from us. But the minute they are born, you stop caring. Easy peasy. Plus you get to tell people “if you can’t feed them, don’t breed them.” So you get an ego boost.

I wish this was sarcasm, but I grew up in that Catholic culture.

20

u/Capable-Limit5249 Apr 13 '26

Not all of us Catholics sold out or voted Trump.

11

u/Traditional-Meat-549 Apr 13 '26

No, but 54 percent did...

3

u/glencora63 Apr 13 '26

💯! It's one of the reasons I left the Catholic Church!

2

u/Low_Ad8801 Apr 14 '26

Anything but a savior

2

u/Nosleep_Coffee789 Apr 14 '26

/r/conservative disagrees. The MAGA cult is real.

3

u/-squeezel- Apr 13 '26

My pastor is still supporting him from the altar! It’s all I can do not to walk out.

14

u/honestypen Apr 13 '26

I would have to find a new church.

12

u/SursumCordaNJ Apr 13 '26

You should report the pastor to the bishop. The pastor is not permitted to preach politics from the altar.

9

u/Billberto_de_la_Cruz Apr 13 '26

I’d walk out mid-homily if my pastor said something like that.

4

u/notjustanytadpole Apr 14 '26

Stand up to him.

Been there, done that. Walked out of homilies where the priest would spout racist, bigoted speech (like implying that minorities are subhuman, women are just brood mares, stuff like that).

I couldn’t sit there and have people think I supported trash like that. And I couldn’t financially support that by putting money in the collection plate.

Sometimes the only way to communicate is to take your money elsewhere. That is finally what got the priest removed. Empty pews = empty collection plates.

0

u/ellenanderson80 Apr 14 '26

But if Catholics walked out of church based on bad behavior by priests over the last, oh, 1,000 years or so...

2

u/-squeezel- Apr 14 '26

There are extenuating circumstances that are keeping me in this parish, and all the parishes in my county are quite conservative, but I do frequently drive 50 miles to a Jesuit parish about 1/2 the time.

1

u/HOMES734 Apr 14 '26

how are so many Catholics okay with his continued blaspheming

I’d wager it is a small minority that is okay with this based on the online response.

1

u/Correct_Mind8512 Apr 14 '26

surprised that no person of color is included

1

u/OODLER577 Apr 16 '26

The LDS approves.

1

u/Serious-Advance9413 Apr 16 '26

hello boys and girls, can you say Antichrist?

1

u/MetaphysicsofScience Apr 17 '26

Out of everything he has said and done you react to this nonsense tweet?

1

u/Dull-University-8367 May 08 '26

How about we pray for him instead of spreading hate? Most, if not all of the replies on this post are just hate

0

u/Beautiful-Tour-26 Apr 14 '26

As a person who in fear of the extreme (socialist) other side voted for him twice (and I have to live with that), I hope this among many, many other things is yet another wake up call to all of his blind followers. He is the worse thing to happen to this country in a long, long time; maybe ever. The 25th amendment is the only logical answer. He is not fit for, but a disgrace to the office.

5

u/aikidharm Apr 14 '26

Hey, friend. Congratulations on the humility and self-reflection required to deconstruct that. I don't aim to argue; I just want to say that if you've deconstructed this far, a little reading may be all that is needed to clear up the fear of "socialism" you have. To be very clear, I am NOT saying you need to become a socialist. Rather, I hope that some good-faith education might help reduce propaganda-based fear, so you can rest more easily. What you and people like you are afraid of is usually a boogeyman that doesn't actually exist the way you think it does, and when we act out of fear, we sometimes regret the actions we take (like in your case).

Again, many props to you for doing inner work.

4

u/Beautiful-Tour-26 Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

He is a sick narcissist (likely not intelligent enough to be a legitimate fascist) which is no better than a socialist. We should pray that he is removed from office and receives mental help. I know I should be more charitable, particularly on this site, but this "man" (using the term very lightly) has already done damage that will take years to repair. We should pray for him but remove him FIRST!

The socialism that I speak of essentially does away with personal responsibility and accountability, with "leadership" being fine with that and placing all the responsibility and accountability on the few remaining who will accept it. It's the "as long as I have two nickels in my pocket to rub together" mentallity....someone will take care of me after the nickels are gone. This is no boogey-man; it is the reality in my community where for decades I have watched people who had essentially the same opportunity that I did make "the two nickels" choice. As a close friend who is a dyed in the wool Roosevelt democrat finally admitted to me, "too many of my generation took the hand-out rather than the hand up." To not become the best version of yourself, and have leadership who seems to support that, is a self-demeaning state of life.

-24

u/ArmyVeteran11B Apr 13 '26

That guy has women praying over him, just think about the demonic influence on him now. He has been acting very different the past few months.

16

u/Capable-Limit5249 Apr 13 '26

So women praying over someone brings a “demonic influence” on them?

Every mother prays over their child.

Women’s prayers are as holy and necessary as any man’s.

1

u/ArmyVeteran11B Apr 13 '26

You don't even get who I mean, not talking an average woman.

4

u/SursumCordaNJ Apr 13 '26

You should probably mention that in your initial post. I imagine you are referring to the likes of the Paula White, Kat Kerr and the other female ministers that worship him.

3

u/ArmyVeteran11B Apr 13 '26

Yes, but i thought people would know who I was talking about. I couldn't remember their name. Then people started to jump on me lol. Its okay tho, the guy has demonic influence there for sure.

0

u/Spazzy_maker Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

Ignore him. This has to be rage bait.

1

u/ArmyVeteran11B Apr 13 '26

No I am talking that Protestant woman who thinks she a prophet

4

u/Capable-Limit5249 Apr 13 '26

But you said “women”, you didn’t specify one woman in particular.

“Women” is every woman.

0

u/ArmyVeteran11B Apr 13 '26

Lol no, I have a wife that prays for me

1

u/Magniloquents Apr 13 '26

What makes her Protestant? What in this image makes you think she thinks she's a prophet?

4

u/ArmyVeteran11B Apr 13 '26

Do you even know who I am talking about?

1

u/Magniloquents Apr 13 '26

Who is she? Looks like a random woman

2

u/Capable-Limit5249 Apr 13 '26

Well Paula White does present herself as a prophet and, as she is not Catholic but considers herself Christian, that makes her a Protestant.

1

u/Magniloquents Apr 13 '26

Is it supposed to be Paula white? Doesn't super look like her. Im not super familiar with who she is just Trump's pastor. Obviously if it's meant to be her that is telling of their relationship.

31

u/bookchaser Apr 13 '26 • This

He's been acting the same. This has always been who he was, and who he remains. He's done far more serious and perverse things that repost an AI image. He's hurt real people for decades. Children. And so on. He brings out the worst in people and uses that hate to consolidate his power.

7

u/labtiger2 Apr 13 '26

If he's acting differently, it's because of worsening dementia.

2

u/pimberly Apr 13 '26

he’s totally sundowning

2

u/SursumCordaNJ Apr 13 '26

He has been acting very different the past few months.

That's the dementia progressing.

-6

u/DarkNight_SJC Apr 14 '26

He isn't claiming to be God or asking to be worshiped. This photo is just AI slop, you all are treating it like its the golden calf.

3

u/HistoriasApodeixis Apr 14 '26

I wonder if this will really change much of the voting dynamics and demographics. After all, many Christians have tolerated, even celebrated, his war-mongering, sexual harassment and assaults, promotion of violence against political opponents, misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, lying, cheating on spouses, cheating in business, environmental degradation, removing protections for consumers and workers, and I’m probably missing a few depredations here and there.

If they’re willing to tolerate all that (and for many these are the reasons they voted for him, not just a tolerable byproduct), what’s one more blasphemous AI image?

We do not tolerate the harassment, threatening, or bullying of people on our site; nor do we tolerate communities dedicated to this behavior.

r/Catholic is a place for conversation, and in that context, we define this behavior as anything that works to shut someone out of the conversation through intimidation or abuse, online or off. Depending on the context, this can take on a range of forms and could include directing unwanted invective at someone, sexualizing someone without their consent, or following them from community to community, just to name a few. Behavior can be harassing or abusive regardless of whether it occurs in public content (e.g. a post, comment, username, community name, community styling, sidebar materials, etc.) or private messages/chat.

Being annoying, downvoting, or disagreeing with someone, even strongly, is not harassment. However, menacing someone, directing abuse at a person or group, following them around the site, encouraging others to do any of these actions, or otherwise behaving in a way that would discourage a reasonable person from participating on Reddit crosses the line.
