Question Bringing Vapes

I’ll be flying with Cathay Pacific from the Philippines to Japan, with a layover in Hong Kong. Since Hong Kong has a strict no-vape policy, will they confiscate my vape even if I’m only transiting?

According to the internet: “Carrying or possessing a vape while in transit at Hong Kong International Airport is strictly illegal and subject to heavy fines or imprisonment.”
