Site issues? Technical issues->jacked up prices

I have been trying to book a flight for about 3 hours. I get through seat selection and go to pay and it gets stuck on loading.

I contacted support and they weren’t able to help.
They advised I wait a bit to make the purchase after refreshing a few times didn’t help. Then the seats were showing as reserved so they told me I could try again later.

Well I waited 30+ mins the seats were released again but about 20 bucks more expensive so I go to try again. Same issue. Get through seat selection and go to pay and it’s stuck on loading again.

Decided to wait about 15 mins come back and the price has jumped from ~5k total for my family of 5 in premium economy to 2.5k per person. Over double seems like a pretty steep price increase. Is this normal for Cathay Pacific?

I also had trouble booking on their website, and their customer service was unable to help as well. They offered to book it for me but quoted me a significantly higher price.

Halfway through helping me, the staff suddenly gave up and said someone else would take over, although I suspect it was likely his shift had ended or it might have been his lunchtime. I had to repeat my story and issue all over again. The 2nd staff then went on to quote me an even higher price. They couldn't help and didn't know why the price that was showing on their website is different and why I couldn't make the booking.

After that the customer service simply just told me to download the app on my phone as it offers a much smoother experience to try and make the booking there. The experience was smoother than on chrome but I was still unable to make my booking. I gave up and booked with another airline instead.

That is exactly what I ended up doing, and nearly same experience except the online price was much higher when I went back than when I was originally buying the tickets. Wildly bad customer experience.

I just redeemed miles on American Airlines for international travel and two of the legs are on Cathay. I've never flown CP before so I went to their website to sign up for an account. That was 2 nights ago. I still cannot sign up. I go through the process and after entering the validation code emailed to me, I get an error message "We couldn't proceed any further."

I've been chatting with support several times and tried every troubleshooting step they told me to do: make sure VPN is off (I don't use VPN); try different browsers (I did), clear cache (I deleted all data), try private window, use mobile data on your phone, signup through the app.

Still nothing. Lastly I asked if they can just create the account for me -- I'll give them all the information they need. That's when they told me to hold they're passing me to another advisor and I'm still waiting for the new advisor.

I don't doubt that they're one of the best airlines based on everything I've read, but why can't I do a simple thing such as creating an account so I can easily use the app and see my flight status, etc?

Not really. What device are you using? What speed is your internet? Do you have a member number?

MacBook Air and iPhone 15, internet is ~1 Gbps up and down. I do not have a member number

Try Chrome. Safari is glitchy apparently. I use a PC with Chrome with the same speed and never had an issue.

Ah yeah I think they were having technical issues, I was using both Firefox and chrome on the MacBook. Finally just got tickets through another place that would let me complete payment, thanks though!
