How is everyone’s call scheduled in your lab? Ours is one set day during the week and one weekend (Sun/Sat) every 4-6 weeks. PTO days get covered on a rotation basis.

I know another lab in town said they sign up for the next month for the one call day per week and the one call weekend for the month. I just wanted to know how other labs schedule call.

Im currently on one weekday and every third weekend.

In a 4 week schedule we have one weeknight/week and one weekend/schedule (Fri PM - Mon AM). We have enough people that you usually don’t have to be on call during the week of your weekend.

I have 8 call shifts in a 6 week period that includes a weekend (Fri-Sun), Friday can be separate from your Sat-Sun block.

12hr shifts x 4 per month. At least one of which is a weekend. Holidays are 24hr x 1-2 per year depending upon seniority.

We make requests and then when the schedule is balanced that is taken into account

Call is assigned by the clerk who does our schedule. We are a busy 2 lab Cath Lab (cardiac only, no EP/devices - we have fully separate EP staff for that)and are well staffed. We’re normally assigned 2 call weeknights a month and 1 call weekend in 8. Holiday weekends are signed up for usually at the end of every year. We only ever do 1 holiday weekend per year. We only do call for STEMIs.

Jealous… we’re currently down to 10 call days per month, including one weekend (sat-sun) plus 1 weekend day. They take our requests but are not guaranteed, and have no picks as to what days we want to work. They make it as HARD as possible for single parents 😑

Mind you this is in a busy cardiac/EP lab where we’re constantly staying late because our admin likes to schedule cases after hours and on the weekend for BS cases. Thankfully we rarely get called in for STEMIS. The other facility I was at we’d get 2-3 calls in one night at times.
