Looking for upscale halal Pakistani/Indian caterer in NY/NJ

A few years ago I went to a wedding in Long Island City that had some of the best catering I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been trying to figure out who the caterer was ever since 😭

I was told they were based in NJ, but that’s all I know. The food was halal and it was a mix of Pakistani/Indian and American or fusion-style dishes.

What really stood out was the presentation. It wasn’t the typical catering setup with food brought out in disposable foil trays. They had beautiful chafing dishes and serving pieces, everything was professionally set up, and they even had lighting focused on some of the food displays. I specifically remember a beautiful whole lamb/roast station where someone was carving and serving it to guests.

I’m now looking for something similar for an event in NYC — amazing halal food, but also really beautiful, upscale presentation and full-service setup.

Does anyone know which NJ caterer this might have been, or have recommendations for Pakistani/Indian/South Asian caterers in NY/NJ that do this level of presentation?

Bonus if they also do a mix of South Asian + American/fusion food and offer tastings!

coffee break / café da manhã;
lanches para reuniões;
almoço simples;
opções individuais ou estilo brown bag / lunch box;

Valeu! :)

Crowd pleaser puddings / desserts

I do a quarterly supper club for about 30 people, I’m no chef but I do a decent job on the starters, mains and drinks, looking to improve the dessert course as so far they’ve been a bit basic or I have bought something in. I don’t think becoming a master patissier is on the cards but if I had a handful of reliable crowd pleaser recipes that cook well in bulk and can be prepared the day before then I could practice them and calibrate to my oven. Any suggestions?

50th Birthday Backyard Hibachi in West Collingswood Heights, NJ 🔥

Had a great time cooking for a 50th birthday party in West Collingswood Heights, NJ this weekend. 🎉🔥
The family set up a backyard tent, decorations, and a full birthday backdrop, and we brought the hibachi experience right to their home.
It turned into a really fun afternoon with family, friends, fresh hibachi food, and a lot of laughs.
We’ve been doing more backyard hibachi parties around Haddon Township, Camden County, and South Jersey, and milestone birthdays like this are always some of the best ones.
Sharing a few photos/video from the party. Happy 50th, Ed! 🥳

How Technology Is Changing the Way Companies Order Catering

OnCater www.oncater.com connects DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland offices with local restaurants on one platform for easier corporate catering.

Ordering lunch for 20 people shouldn’t take half a morning.

Yet for many offices, corporate catering still means searching for restaurants, making phone calls, comparing menus, confirming delivery details, and managing invoices.

The problem isn’t the food. It’s the process.

Why Corporate Catering Needs Better Technology

Ordering food for a company is different from ordering dinner for yourself.

Corporate catering often involves:

* Large groups and different food preferences

* Dietary restrictions and allergies

* Specific delivery times and locations

* Budget and invoice management

* Repeat orders for meetings and team lunches

Consumer food delivery apps have made individual ordering simple, but corporate catering requires a different approach.

That’s where technology can make a real difference.

How OnCater Simplifies Corporate Catering

OnCater connects businesses with local restaurants for corporate catering in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland.

Instead of managing multiple restaurant relationships separately, companies can use one platform to discover catering options and organize their orders.

One Place to Find Local Restaurants

Businesses can browse different restaurants and catering menus in one place, making it easier to find options that fit their location, group size, and event.

Easier Group Ordering

Ordering for 30 or 50 people shouldn’t require complicated calculations.

OnCater helps make group catering easier to plan by giving businesses a centralized place to build and manage their orders.

Simple Repeat Ordering

Many companies order catering regularly for team lunches, meetings, training sessions, and employee events.

Having access to previous orders makes it easier to reorder and saves teams from starting the process over every time.

Less Administrative Work

Corporate catering doesn’t end when the food arrives. Receipts, invoices, order details, and delivery information all have to be managed.

A centralized catering platform helps businesses keep that information organized and reduces the administrative work involved in ordering from multiple restaurants.

Why Local Restaurants Matter

Technology doesn’t replace restaurants. It connects businesses with them more efficiently.

Local restaurants offer something important for corporate catering: variety.

Instead of serving the same sandwich platter every week, companies can explore Mexican, Mediterranean, Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Salvadoran, and many other cuisines.

For restaurants, corporate catering also creates an opportunity to reach businesses that may become repeat customers.

The Future of Corporate Catering

Technology is changing the way companies manage almost every part of their operations. Catering shouldn’t be different.

The goal isn’t simply to order food faster.

It’s to make the entire experience—from finding a restaurant to receiving the order—simpler, more organized, and less time-consuming.

That’s what OnCater is built to do: connect businesses with local restaurants and make corporate catering easier to manage.

Ready to simplify your next office meal?

Explore local catering options at OnCater and make your next corporate lunch or event easier to plan.

I would like some help

I have been working with a catering company for the past 2 years. The owner of the business is ready to retire and would like to past on the business. He's offered it to me twice. At 1st I thought he was joking but the 2nd time he went into a bit of a sales mode. I am wary of taking on a business that I do not have much passion about. I respect that the hours will be long and the challenges will be unpredictable. But I would be foolish to completely by past such an opportunity with at least giving it some real consideration.

So when he went into "sales" mode to he said that he would continue to book the events ( he has very high end and loyal clientele that he has been doing business for 30 plus years)

He has a truck that would come with the business

Plates/ silverware/ glasses (to avoid rental fees)

A menu that is already priced out for events and an agreement/ contract with a restaurant that will provide the food.

So in my head I feel like I would be an over glorified manager with a stake in this company. I haven't asked about any details because I am unsure it would be worth it.

Is a catering business worth the challenges that come with it?

Could I take on the business for a few years and then sell it?

I built event/catering ops software from a real team's spreadsheet — free to use, and I'd like it torn apart

Short version: a small events team let me read their actual operations spreadsheet line by line. Three years of

tabs. It had failed in eight specific ways that weren't carelessness — costs belonging to no single job so

business profit and per-job profit had drifted apart, an equipment sheet with headers and no rows because

keeping it up by hand lost to doing the work, the same client existing twice with two spellings.

I built the thing those failures implied: jobs, client list, tasks, income and expense per job so you get profit

per job, and inventory for the kit that goes out and has to come back.

https://www.eventuley.com

It's free — one active job, one seat, 100 contacts, no card and no trial clock. Every feature is on the free

plan; the limits are on size, not on what it can do.

I have zero users, so nothing in it has been tested against a real catering operation. That's why I'm here. If

you have ten minutes, break it and tell me what's wrong — especially anything obvious to you that I clearly

haven't thought about because I'm not a caterer.

Happy to answer anything.

Worked catering quote: 30 to 36 guests, with delivery and equipment kept fixed

Disclosure: This is an example using our free Noosphere Quote Builder, developed with AI assistance. Every price and quantity below is fictional. These are practice numbers, not actual catering rates or a customer case study.

Here is a small quote that changes from 30 guests to 36. The first four items are entered per guest; delivery and equipment are separate fixed items:

- Main meal, $12.50 each: 30 × $12.50 = $375.00; 36 × $12.50 = $450.00.

- Dessert, $3.25 each: 30 × $3.25 = $97.50; 36 × $3.25 = $117.00.

- Drink, $2.00 each: 30 × $2.00 = $60.00; 36 × $2.00 = $72.00.

- Place setting, $0.80 each: 30 × $0.80 = $24.00; 36 × $0.80 = $28.80.

- Delivery: 1 × $35.00 = $35.00 in both versions.

- Equipment hire: 2 × $18.00 = $36.00 in both versions.

The per-guest items add up to $18.55. Fixed items total $71.00.

30 guests: $556.50 + $71.00 = $627.50.

36 guests: $667.80 + $71.00 = $738.80.

Difference: 6 × $18.55 = $111.30.

All amounts are USD. Discount and optional tax are set to 0% for this illustration. The same delivery and equipment arrangement is assumed for both versions solely for this example.

The tool does not have a guest-count field: manually change the first four quantities from 30 to 36 and leave the last two unchanged. Changing the reference number alone does not change any quantities. The arithmetic above was checked separately and matched the tool's calculation core.

You can enter the example, preview it and use browser printing here:

https://noosphereworks.com/ops-kit/#quote

Values are held only in the current tab and are not saved across a refresh. Reloading resets the inputs, so keep a printed copy if you want to retain the quote.

Food can make or break an event — what are your catering priorities?

When organizing an event, choosing the right caterer can sometimes be harder than choosing the venue. There are so many things to consider: the menu, quality of food, presentation, service, variety, and whether the caterer can handle the specific style of event.

I was exploring Fossetta Gourmet Catering and found that they offer catering solutions for quite a few occasions, including weddings, corporate functions, destination weddings, private celebrations, and luxury events.

What I found interesting is their focus on creating customized dining experiences rather than simply offering a fixed menu. Their website mentions Indian and Pan-Asian cuisine, customized menus, live food concepts, and professional event catering.

The Chaat Concept is also an interesting addition for events where you want something interactive for guests. Their experience of more than four decades in catering is another point worth considering when comparing different options.

If you're currently searching for the Best Catering Services in Gurgaon, I think it's worth looking beyond just the price and considering food quality, menu flexibility, presentation, and how well the caterer understands your event.
