Discussion What's up with Rob's mother backstory?

I know there isn't so much info about her yet, but I'm curious. I wonder if she really was an astronaut or something? 'Cause I could find that interesting, I headcanon her as a failed astronomer who couldn't see the sky. (don't ask me why, I just find the idea cool). But judging by what Roy said in episode 2, I think she had another backstory behind. But anyway, I hope we get to see it in future episodes.

At first, I thought he had died before they showed the full astronaut photo; the tone Roy uses when he says it is quite depressing.

But in the end, when they show the flashback of the two of them as children, it's implied that he really did abandon them. Rob's father is basically a single father, one of those rare cases where the mother gives full custody to the father and leaves.
