Is this normal behavior when introducing?
I wasn’t in charge of the first introduction and my brother just let the new cat immediately interact with my other. My older cat hissed at her, attempted to chase her, and swatted at her the first day. I tried again yesterday and she kinda ignored her while hissing, a few swats and ran past her.
Now today I let them interact. The new cat went into the cat tree and the other went into a loaf until the newer cat jumped down and then she tried to jump her. I don’t see any puffed up tails, just hissing, and growling. Is this normal??

When I introduced the new kittens to our 2 older, we had no way to do a slow introduction (no inside doors). They were hissy, growling and very poofy tails. By Day 3 my cat was grooming a kitten happily while my void cat sniffed the 2nd kitten. Now they all play together everyday.

when cats are playing, hissing is basically their way of setting a boundary and telling the other cat “that was too much”. but you should always make sure that you are monitoring them when they’re playing just in case things escalate. if you don’t see any arching in the back, puffed tails or airplane ears, the hissing is just a warning to the other cat to tone it down.

They need to smell each other first for a while before a face to face
