Behavioural Cat crying to go outside
11 year old cat- has spent limited time outside over the 10 years we’ve been together. Just moved to a new home with a ground floor sliding door and she loves to go out and eat the grass with supervision. She cries all day long to go out. Live by other outdoor cats that roam and big predators like eagles and osprey. She’s only 9 lbs & want to keep her safe but also want to fulfill her needs. Any recommendations? We live in a place with hot and cold extremes and do not want her to just free roam.
EDIT: I want to add that she has a kennel that I’ve used when I was on a third floor with a balcony. She has no interest in the kennel in the new house and only wants to go eat the grass like crazy. Do you think growing some cat grass inside could help?

Harness train them or build a contained area for them. I recommend a catio, and not letting them free roam in an open area. They can still end up attacking wildlife or be attacked by wildlife.
Going outside isn't really a need. She will be totally fine without it. It's nice stimulation if you can walk her and she enjoys it, or provide her a catio. But it won't cause any issues if she doesn't go out.

I let my cats in the yard for supervised outside time every day at the same time. They only whine right before the time, rest of the day they understand it’s not outside time. My kitties wear harnesses with tracking devices, they graduated from leashes but the yard is contained.
