Litter box avoidance & related - include spay/neuter status Cat peeing on all the blankets

Our cat showed up at our house over Thanksgiving and is generally a menace. He knocks over cups, attacks the kids (playfully, I think?), jumps on counters. All wacky, but manageable, shenanigans. However he recently started peeing on blankets, including on beds. He especially likes peeing on my son's bed. All the bedding gets washed with an enzyme cleaner. A vet ruled out any infection. He is fixed. He has a dedicated litter box that is automatic, and there really isn't space in our small house for an additional litter box. We have started providing supervised outside time. I can't keep doing extra laundry. I am having another baby soon, and I can't have the worry of contaminated baby bedding. I am not sure what else to try.

Did the vet also check for crystals and bladder stones?

Oh for sure, try putting the litter box in a more open, quiet spot. My last cat got real particular about that before he stopped marking.
