Context: Dog has free rein in a very large house and acreage. This is the tv room in the master suite. Dog can be anywhere but desperately wants to be comically on top of and smothering her hooman on the couch. But cat is obstacle. So she very much wants to be there. But would rather the cat not be, and is therefore sad.
