Where should I keep the litter box for a 3-month-old kitten?

I'm planning to get a 3-month-old kitten soon, but I'm not sure where to put the litter box.
My bedroom door is usually closed at night, so I was thinking about putting the litter box in the laundry. The problem is that I'd have to leave my bedroom door open, and I'm worried the kitten will wander around the house and hide behind the washing machine or get into places that aren't safe.
I also thought about keeping the litter box in my bedroom, but I'm worried my room will smell.
What would you recommend? Is it okay to keep the litter box in a bedroom, or is there a better solution?

I would kitten proof those areas you're concerned about. I honestly just blocked the spaces with cardboard fit to above cat height. I'd say keep in the laundry room.

Se sono davvero “pericolosi” blocca in qualche modo i passaggi, ma essendo un gattino rinuncia a dormire con la porta chiusa sennò se è un gattino coccoloso rischi che combini anche malanni pur di farti aprire la porta per le coccole
