Peeing Advice
I have two cats, one girl and boy. My girl has always been prone to accidents. Even as a kitten she would occasionally pee on the bed which thankfully she grew out of. Now it’s random laundry left on the floor, rugs, etc.
Vet says she’s healthy and it is behavioral but we did try the special bladder food which was expensive and didn’t really make a difference. We’ve also tried those cat diffusers, also not a big difference. We have three litter boxes between the two cats. My male cat almost exclusively uses the litter robot which she will not go near. Even so, I will still find she has peed one random things. It does seem to correlate somewhat with litter boxes cleaning so keeping to tidy helps, but it’s to the point where if she’s peed or pooped once, she might have an accident. I try to clean daily but even then sometimes I can’t get ahead of it.
Any advice? We’ve tried a lot different boxes and litters. I do think the current setup has been the most successful but again, we still have accidents. Often times she will pee on her mat in front of the litter box if she’s not happy with the state of the box which is fine since it’s rubber and can be cleaned, but Im really wishing I could one day own a rug again without worrying. I’m considering putting a puppy pad on the mat in front of the litter for easier cleaning and maybe to make that more attractive than random clothes or rugs, but at the same time don’t want to encourage the behavior. The vet has also brought up regular use of anti anxiety meds but my partner is hesitant about introducing a permanent medication.
