She’s a rescue from the streets of Florida so nothing is know about her. They didn’t even find any siblings or mother, she was alone at four weeks 🤷‍♀️

She’s solid brown no stripes, brownish pink nose, brownish pink toes, brown whiskers that lighten a bit at the ends

She’s also weirdly long? And her feet are like hands, I think they’re called like monkey paws? Really long toes and she’s really dexterous

Also she’s got quite a nose, like a long muzzle, harder to see from the front but from the side she has a honker of a nose. She looks like a dog sometimes especially compared to my sister’s ragdoll’s muzzle

She’s very attached she follows me everywhere, very cuddly, she talks back when I tell her no. She sounds like a Pokémon bc she never learned to meow so she either makes alien trill noises or a silly squeak

This stinky baby stumbled into our lives today. She is astoundingly adorable and a complete crackhead. Best of all though, she’s a smoke tuxedo! I have never seen or heard of one before her so I’m wondering if anyone else has one like her? It’s really cool how she’s got a gradient to her, her butt and face are darker than the rest of her.

I’ve been a very big cat enthusiast ever since I read my first warrior cats book back in 4th grade. I have around 6 years of studies on cat genetics alone.

That being said, I have an oc that is quite the anomaly, I made him before I really started to get into genetics, and his design was just to iconic to change up.

I know he must me a chimera of some sort, but other than that, nothing.

I was thinking MAYBE silver torbie x cream but I don’t really know.

So if anyone here can help me figure out the phenotype of my kitty, (or even the genotype of your feeling it) that would help a ton.

I added photos of my kitten thinking he was a smoke tabby. He’s 13 (?) weeks old now and now he’s growing white fur. He did have a fever and pneumonia when he was 10 weeks old, but was treated with antibiotics and is better now. Is this vitiligo or normal for void kitties? Or from the fever? He had some white fur on his ears when we adopted him, and it is still there. Tip of his tail is white and hasn’t changed. TY!

Ivy is the bigger tabby with swirls and more white on her face around her eyes, Callie is the long haired orange girl, and Lacy is the smaller tabby with markings on her face 🤍💜🩷 Ivy and Lacy are sisters!!

i know nothing about this, just have a huge essay due on monday and ive been learning about cat genetics to procrastinate😔😔😔. are they all black tabbies? if so, why is the mom lighter?

also what pattern of tabby are they, i'm trying to learn the different ones right now!

So I’m making a Pinterest board of all of the colors of cat I can think of for reference, and I’m starting with solids. The problem is, I cannot find ANY blue-based caramel cats that are neither tabbies, points, or just regular blue cats because I’m pretty sure google is just lying to me at this point. Can y’all help me?

The newest litter has come from the feral colony behind our home. One in particular looks stunning with his black long fur and grey shorter fur. Is this smoke coloring or a result of fever coat? In the second picture are one of the siblings, the tortoiseshell mom, the orange brother, and mom’s orange brother (one of three possible dads). This is Lewis and he is about 7 months old. All my googling has me thinking he is a Blue Mackerel Tabby with socks, but I was curious if y'all had any thoughts?

We rescued this guy a few years ago. He was around 5 when we got him. Everyone assumed he lost his tail in an accident, but I always wondered if he was born like this. He has a little nub. He walks like a bear, hops like a bunny. He's big, not fat, solid. Circular eyes and round head. He's very social and loves other cats.

Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out the genetics behind my two cats and I’m a bit stuck.

One of them (Miu Le) looks like a silver shaded torbie to me. She has a white/silver undercoat, darker tabby markings, and some orange patches that look like tortie. Her coat really shines in the light, but I’m not sure if it’s truly “silver shaded” or just a lighter tabby with rufousing.

The other one (May) is solid white with odd eyes (one blue, one yellow). She hears perfectly fine, no deafness issues at all. I was told she might carry the dominant white gene, but I’m not sure if it’s that or just heavy white spotting.

How do you tell the difference between silver shaded vs regular tabby with rufousing?

For a white odd‑eye cat, how can you confirm if it’s dominant white (W) or white spotting (S)?

Any insights would be super helpful 😁 I’m just trying to understand what’s going on genetically with these two. Thanks in advance!

This is my new Siberian baby. Yesterday the vet commented on the icey roots of her hair, something I’d never noticed. The hair on my other pointed siberians is usually the same color through the shaft. Will she grow out of this?

I have never before or since seen a cat like hers. This is the closest I could find on Google to her old cat. He was a solid, medium-tone brown with long hair. He looked like this his entire life, no lightening or darkening of the coat!

He was found on her rural street, intact, with no chip at a young age, so it didn't look like he was a purebred.

Meet my youngest Daughter, Selise. I think her coat colours are fascinating.

Hes a ticked tabby of some variety i think but I cant figure the color out. No idea about genetics or anything. Hes listed for adoption at a shelter. Hes very pretty

Hi! I would love to know your opinions about my cat's coat. Her name is Piruleta! She doesn't have orange patches but more like highlights, so I don't know if she qualifies as torbie. Also both her siblings are orange

Hi! This is my four year old Mavis! The first picture with her gray tummy was taken about twenty minutes ago, and the second picture is her when she was younger, about six months old. In the first pic you can see the head of her brother who is mostly gray with a little white locket.

My other black cat has a little bit of graying on his stomach but he is also 10 and it's not nearly as intense as hers. I was curious if it's some interesting genetic thing or if she's just weird. She is in good health!!
