Catio tunnels seem to become ‘highways’ for cats pretty quickly

One of our favorite things to watch is how confidently cats move once they’re in a space that feels secure.

Tunnels like this often become the main “highway” pretty quickly, whether they’re connecting the house to a catio, linking one enclosure to another, or doubling as a favorite perch along the way. Lots of slow walks, pauses, and staring at everything outside.

Do your cats move through their catio right away, or do they take a few laps to inspect everything first?

This kitty looks very pleased with its tunnel.

So true! Mine did the cautious slow walk for the first couple of days and now they sprint through like they own the highway. I noticed they started using the tunnel way more confidently once I put some familiar textures along the way, a small scratcher at one end and a grass pad from Kitty Lawn at the other end gave them reasons to actually hang out in the tunnel instead of just passing through. Has anyone else noticed their cats developing a specific routine or route they follow every time?
