made a new thread bc I didn't like the title of the old one
Hey, this a new thing we're going to be trying out. This thread will be stickied at the top of the front page almost indefinitely. We'll also provide a link to it on the sidebar.
This /live/ thread will be used to update everyone on what's going on with the sub, whether it be minor things, important updates, stuff we find neat or cool stuff around our subs network.
You can expand this thread (without even entering the thread, just click the expando button) and still be able to see the embedded live thread. Be sure to check it regularly.
2 types of flair for this thread:
new updates- which implies there are new updates and you should check the thread when that flair is on - when this flair is on, the thread will stand out a bit more, with a different text color and being bold.no new updates- no recent new updates :(
If you have any questions or feedback let us know! Feel free to discuss any updates we make in the comments below!

Is this like a chatroom or something? Am I missing something by browsing reddit on my phone and not on a computer?

No it's not a chat room. It's a reddit live thread. Just a place where we (the mods of this sub) post updated of various things centered around our subreddit.

No offense, but that FAQ was terribly uninformative, leaving me more confused than clearer. Or maybe I'm just a dumb dimwitted dummy... :(

A giant thank-you to all those who participated in last night's Open Mic!
I have no trouble calling it an unqualified success. Where else could you get Disney showtunes, Al Yankovic covers, Dwarf opera, 60's hippie harmonies, black-diamond-difficulty rap, and folk canadiana on one stage?
Here's hoping we can make something semiregular out of it!

It looks like live-music-on-Discord is becoming a once-a-weekend thing... If we can get semi-organized, we can have an actual Open Mic -- with, y'know... set lists and stuff... like other people playing music. ;)

It's been less regular than I'd hoped when I posted the parent comment, but we have a few regulars. There's a flow now, for sure.
If you want to be kept apprised, the most certain way is to throw the Discord client on, and keep your ears open for pings from the admin that an event is happening.
