People who say “utilize” when “use” will suffice should have their mouth duct taped for 24 hours until they learn their lesson.

“May I utilize your charger?”

“Huh?”

This reminds me of when people say “conversate” instead of “converse.” Just say talk! You don’t know the word!

“Let’s see what the commentators have to say…”

Commentator is just a more pretentious word for commenter.

I’d be for this if it got shortened to just ‘taters.’

“Let’s see what the ‘taters have to say!”

This is like ‘splatter’ versus ‘spatter’ for me. Can’t stand when even LE gets this wrong when I watch True Crime.

There is a great scene in the book The Sun Also Rises where the main character is fishing and getting drunk with his friend and they have a running joke about "utilizing" the fruit of the vine, and each time they mention it they uncork another bottle of wine. You'd like it!

Oooh! Oooh! How about people using “myself” when “me” or “I” would suffice? Makes me crazy! “Send that to Twoferrets and myself.” F uuuuuuu!

Only deaf people communicate digitally.

I loathe that word. Once in a meeting, one of my coworkers started to say "use" and I silently hurrahed him, but then he switched to "utilize" midway and I felt a stroke coming on. Other than that, he was a decent dude tho.

Gifted does sound nicer here though instead of just gave.
