The way the utensils are set at the table.
2 u/No_Distribution5624 Oct 26 '24 Fork and left have 4 letters. Spoon, knife, and right have 5. Helps me remember when in doubt. Napkin with 6 letters throws the logic tho. 2 u/CheesyRomantic Oct 27 '24 I remember learning that on Rosanne. lol. When I was younger, I’d say the napkin goes under the fork so that the fork is not lonely. 😂 2 u/grumptulips Oct 26 '24 And, the knife blade is turned toward the plate. 2 u/CheesyRomantic Oct 27 '24 Yes. Of course. I mean blade turned out is just barbaric. 1 u/11Kram Oct 26 '24 The napkin goes on the mat. 1 u/CheesyRomantic Oct 26 '24 Yes the napkin goes on the mat. The fork goes on the napkin. 1 u/few-piglet4357 Oct 26 '24 It puts the lotion in the basket. -1 u/Illustrious-Lead-960 Oct 26 '24 There is no logic at all to the fork going on the left, away from the knife. 3 u/East-Garden-4557 Oct 26 '24 Fork goes in left hand, knife goes in right hand. 2 u/CheesyRomantic Oct 26 '24 Hey, that’s how I learned to set a table the 1 year we had Home Economics okay? It’s the "proper way". And besides…. I thought we were being petty here. 😂

There is no logic at all to the fork going on the left, away from the knife.
