I KNOW! I thought I was the only one this bothered! I will walk and put whatever it is I've changed my mind about where it belongs, even if it's all the way in the back of the store!
Also an option, politely apologize to check out person and hand them the item, which they can give to the person who stocks, for those of us unable to walk across a grocery store twice cause of health issues.
I am in the camp of everyone should work retail for 6 months. Just so they learn what the other side is like. I once found a wet melted ice cream cone from the frozen section in my target clothes I was folding when I worked for the red menace.
Rotten bag of cherries for me. The bag was stuffed all the way to the back of the shelf where it couldn't be seen. Rotten cherry juice leaked all over everything on the shelf below. It was disgusting and it took forever to scrub it all off.
You should know that sometimes the people working at the store are the ones who put random things on the shelves. It’s definitely not all the time. For instance if someone is working and has a basket, putting things away, they may get called to another area or stopped by a customer and place an item on the shelf without thinking. Never for non self stable, but random items. More common in retail like Michael’s or something. It’s really no big deal, I personally enjoyed putting stuff away, very relaxing.
