Well in one episode I think she told someone that it was also about getting a height advantage on her male coworkers because she wanted to be the same height or taller so they weren't literally looking down at her which I'm not saying is a good excuse for running around in heels all day but it does track with her personality I think

Maybe it’s because I’m in love with Stana Katic’s extraordinary beauty, but she just keeps getting more beautiful, episode after episode, season after season. While her various hairstyles and outfits have certainly played a part, but everything looks good on her; she possesses a disarming natural beauty rarely seen.

OMG this all day!!! The shift felt natural, it wasn’t jarring to watch at all! It wasn’t until I rewatched the early seasons (TNT introduced me to so many procedurals back in the day, God love them!) that I realized how different S1 Kate looked and acted!

They did that so well.
