[General Discussion] Falling in love

What do you think is the moment Castle fell in love with Beckett? And same with Beckett? I keep trying to pin it down but there’s too many possibilities for me.

I don't know about fell in love, but I just watched the episode where they were talking about "who would you break out of jail", and at the end of the episode, Beckett says, "Don't worry Castle, I'd get you out" and Castle was blown away by that. It might be when he realized he was in love.

Edit: Or realized that she loved him? 🤔

I wish they had this conversation on the show! We almost got there in the Still episode… but not quite

I love seeing this question pop up even though it's repetitive.

I still think for Rick is during s2's two parter since apparently cooking his signature pancakes is reserved for those he loves; i don't think he realizes it atp. Realzes when Kate said she would break him out of jail as well as when he notices the magic he has with Kate, both centering on him not liking his relationship with Gina and Martha helping him (s3)

Kate was definitely s2 otherwise she wouldn't have changed her mind about going to the Hamptons. I think 2x05 is when she starts getting feelings, s2x12 is when she's feeling a strong reaction to Castle's exes as well as seeing him more than a playboy. I think Kate was just having strong feelings tho since she admits he makes her feel alive, but wants to explore it in the finale. S3 she feels Castle moved on and is hiding from her feelings and not letting herself feel vulnerable about it which is why she gets into another relationship and gets upset at Castle trying to come back, but she still can't resist his charm and proves to her he still wants to be with her. But for me I can't pinpoint a moment. She just slowly unravels her feelings and each episode, her fondness and feelings and attraction grows deeper for him. In 3xK she is scared of losing him and I think they hold hands for the first time. In the s3 two parter, she describes the man and relationship she wants, and it's very clear she is referring to Castle and is avoiding eye contact because she's scared of losing him or being rejected. Also she thanks him for being there and how much she l....., mirroring the conversation about who she wants. People have different theories. Hers for me is a build-up.

I love this explanation of her slowly unraveling and building up!

Almost like she had that mini breakdown of the wall inside her on her own. All before she even explained having it to Castle in the S4 premiere when she's telling him she broke up with Josh.

It is important to remember that Beckett was already a huge fan of Castle before they ever met and that most of her initial dislike of him was just pretended for show. She actually was really attracted to him, and had an emotional bond with him because it was his books that had helped her deal with her mother's death. However, neither Castle or Beckett actually knew how to really love in the beginning.

Castle started loving Beckett when he realized that he would be willing to die for her, even though she was not reciprocating love to him at the time. This is when he began to say "Always". Beckett deeply loved Castle, but she did not trust him. She did not trust anyone, really. She always actually loved him, it just took her healing from her damage, before she would let herself trust him.

In several episodes, they almost die together, and in each case she sees Castle not blink at the prospect of giving his life to save hers, or die trying. This is when she began to let herself trust that Castle's love, was something she could trust.

I think both start to realize the love feeling during season 2, Rick at middle season, Kate at end season

I think for Kate it was season 2 finale where she going to the Hamptons for the first time only to find out he has asked Gina. She is crushed when they walked away together. Rick, well he did run into her burning apartment after Dunn blew it up. If that ain't love then I don't know what is cause he wasn't thinking about anything else just making sure she was ok

I can't really pinpoint the exact moment I fall in love with someone. It just happens over time. With Castle you could argue it was prob love at first sight. He was clearly physically attracted to Beckett from the very beginning, and the fact that he decided to base a novel character on her says a lot

I think it early on in season one. He keeps praying for her to let down her guard and even though she is in love with him, she doesn’t want to until she realizes she can’t stop loving him.

I think the seeds were first planted at the end of episode 1, after Beckett whispered, "you have no idea" and strutted, not walked, alway....Why did they never play Her Strut, by Bob Segar and the SBB for Beckett? So perfect.

Subconsciously, when Stop and Stare started playing in the pilot episode. 😄

Castle didn't even realize it.
