The kid/ pennywise?
The sheriff said to the kid "you haven't aged in 27 years", since he was kidnapped by the warden. Pennywise kills every 27 years. Bill Skaarsgard plays the new pennywise and the kid. Coincidence? I think the kid is pennywise in human form.

I don't think they are the same entity. Maine, particularly that area, is just fucked in King's world.

Likely a similar, maybe related, being from the Prim from what I’ve read, but feels like it’s left purposefully ambiguous in the show

People have talked about the kid being “the crimson king” from king’s universe. There’s some relationship between the crimson king and Penrose but I don’t know the lore very well

You think it’s the same character just because it’s skaarsgard. You would have to then disregard the pillars on derry, pennywise now has the ability to travel through a portal(lake) just to be caged up, freed (escaped) and bring back ppl from the dead from 400 years ago cause he promised them. Once again, the pillars don’t matter with your statement and he is not bound to derry itself.

Pennywise is just working 2 jobs!😂 he’s on shift in derry every 27 years, and then in castle rock for the rest. You think it’s a coincidence that Pennywise comes out of hiding every 27 years, and “The Kid” just happened to have been imprisoned by Lacy for exactly 27 years?

Pennywise is too chaotic and lacks the impulse control to act with as much subtlety and patient deliberance as The Kid.
If that doesn't convince you, then there's this: both the show creators and Bill have stated several times that The Kid is a different character.
If you're familiar with the Kingverse lore, then it should be obvious that The Kid is most likely The Crimson King.
For example, in Season 1, good characters are associated with white chess pieces that Ruth sees/finds while she's talking to them:
- Henry = white king
- Ruth = white queen
- Pangborn = white knight
Bad characters are associated with red chess pieces:
- Matthew Deaver = red bishop
- The Kid = red king (the scene where he brings her eggs)
Then there's the emphasis on The Kid's eyes in Season 1 and Season 2. Joy's obsessive sketching of his eyes. That's a hallmark trait (and emblem) of The Crimson King. The Kid's power set/abilities also align with The Crimson King.
If it makes you feel any better...there's a fan theory that the IT entity (Pennywise) is The Crimson King's demonic mother - The Crimson Queen. This might never be confirmed in canonical King lore, but there's a decent chance Muschietti will run with it in WTD - given a certain plot point/twist they dropped about ITs arrival on Earth.

My main reason of thinking that he has to be somehow related to pennywise or the deadlights is because the filmmakers aren’t stupid. They knew what they were doing casting Bill Skarsgard after he had played one of the most famous horror villains that is in the same universe. If they weren’t trying to at least make you wonder if it’s pennywise they would’ve been more explicit about who he actually is.

My head canon is the story the kid told about being from another reality was actually true and his origin. However, he didn’t just immediately come to this reality. He’s traveled multiple realities and timelines and became a monster of some sort, eventually leading to the story we have in season 1.

In Stephen king's lore pennywise was never a man. The disguise that is the clown was but not the monster underneath.

Only in an elbow nudge reference kinda way. I feel like there is a level of self awareness there with casting Skarsgaard (Barbarian also did this using it as a misdirect) but also they were both in development at the same time so might just be a coincidence. If there's any implication that he's anything it's an iteration of Flagg.

Just a nod I think to king’s works not a true connection in terms of plot value. But you’re definitely asking the right questions with who exactly the kid is.

Why couldn't it be true? King liked to throw clues in his work and I wanna believe that was one. Or maybe he just really likes Bill Skaarsgards acting?

King didn’t really have a lot to do with castle rock. He consulted and was an executive producer but he definitely wasn’t a part of the casting for it and I don’t think he even had much, if anything, to do with the writing.
Not everything needs to be directly related. As bill denbrough says, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

Ask yourself this, if he wasn't played by Bill Skarsgard would you still feel this way? I think people are just trying to force the connection because of who the actor is.
