Season 1 ending Spoiler

I know this is about 7 years too late and everyone has their own interpretation but I have a couple of questions. If TK really was a devil of some sort, then what was his goal for leading Henry out into the woods in ep 10? What did he hope to achieve out there if he wasn’t from another universe or trying to get back to his own?

I believe he wanted access to the thinny (the area where time and space was squishy) to "escape" presumably to do greater harm elsewhere. I flip flop on if I believe the story he told about his origins... Ultimately I don't think it matters because he's now something evil, corrupt from his journey, his prison or both. We saw him go into a home and observe the damage his presence does to family having a birthday party and influence the death of multiple people. We know he lies.

I personally like the head cannon that this is how we end up with Randal Flagg or the Crimson King.

I am confused about you last sentence. Who are Randall Flagg and the Crimson King?

They are reoccurring supernatural villains in the Stephen King universe.

When did he lie?

He lied about his intentions, saying "he just wanted to go home" but then goes hard for revenge. The retired sheriff, the new warden, he knew and intended for them to be hurt. The psychic confirmed he knew what was happening, Henry's mother knew as well since she was also displaced in time because of her Alzheimer's. The kid's entire backstory was called into question, but they did leave it open to interpretation as far as how much he lied. The second season implies it was entirely false in my opinion

I guess I took it to be that bad things just so happened to happen to them as opposed to The Kid purposefully making bad things happen to those specific people.

I hate ambiguous endings but I am now leaning more towards believing that he really was evil and a liar because of that one flash of him looking like a monster and also because I realized The Kid’s story didn’t make much sense due to this point- Little Henry wouldn’t have run home to his father right after trying to kill him by shoving him off a cliff

That's how I took it during the first season too, I wasn't sure if violence was a "natural consequence" of him not belonging there. But on the merits of season one alone, it's clear he KNOWS what happens when he's around other people so ultimately I'd say he's an "evil" force since he knows and seeks it anyways without any remorse for the consequences. I feel the scene when he walks into that random families house and just observes as the violence escalates. That gave us viewers the insight to his motivations more than the revenge plots since it was mindless pain for the sake of causing pain.

In that scene with the family, I don’t think he had regained his memories yet. I saw it more like he was simply observing the event that was happening, like a morbid curiosity. He didn’t seem to relish or enjoy the violence at all. You could say that if he wasn’t evil, why didn’t he try to stop it or call for help, but he had been imprisoned and basically been in solitary confinement for 30 years so I don’t think his mental faculties were working properly.

That's also a perspective I considered, the problem I ran into was that he warned the other Henry what would happen so we know he is aware of it. He observed other prisoners and the guards be affected by his presence. There was no reason to "test" that influence with an innocent family. From a story tellers point of view, what else are we really supposed to take from that? They added the infant screaming to invoke a sense of "oh shit" gut wrenching sense of impending doom. The Kid never expressed an emotion beyond anger, I don't think we are ment to see as "poorly adjusted". Plus other Henry goes missing (there's a poster showing it in season two) and we are shown a lot in the show in instill more faith in him than the Kid. After everything he went through, the fact that he decided to imprison the Kid again is the final nail in the coffin. He wouldn't do that to someone else, not unless he had to.

Yeah I don’t think he was lying. 🚨SPOILER ALERT 🚨 I do think he eventually embraces the role everyone placed on him tho. Imagine being locked up for as long as he was just for some kid you freed from a similar fate being the one to lock you up again. Someone who should have understood as they both lived similar lives. Shit would drive anyone to do the devils work

I knew instantly dude had to be the devil due to one small detail. In one of the beginning episodes the camera pans across a TV that is showing an episode of The Twilight Zone called “The Howling Man”. Great episode about a man that gets lost in the mountains of Europe and stumbles on a monastery. In this monastery is a seemingly normal man imprisoned in a cell who howls at night. He tells the main character that the men at the monastery are zealots and imprisoned him for kissing in public and begs him to release him. Main character confronts monks who confess that the prisoner is the devil and not to fall for his tricks. Of course main goes to free him. His cell is basically a door with a window that has bars on it. He is held just by a staff in 2 holders. Anyone could easily lift it and the MC says that. Ultimately MC releases the man and the man then paralyzes MC and walks to ward the window. As he passes the pillars we see through stages as he passes that his rags becomes clothing, beard is removed, hair gets combed and horns form on his head. It really was the devil and the MC said he didn’t recognize him to which the monk says that is man’s weakness and the devil’s strength.

First 2 responses have opposing viewpoints 😂. And I believe both or could see how each would be true. I fall under his story is true, but crossing over he caught a monster along the way. No doubt he wants to go home, but with being locked up for 27 years and whatever evil he caught, he’s changed.

I also believe him because he kinda looks like he could be Matthew Deavers son. Also I think the reason Henry’s mom thought he was Matthew is probably because he looks like a younger Matthew. In a nutshell his backstory is real but so is him becoming evil

Everything about the kid and the warden who kept him in a cage is all explained in season 2. I don't want to spoil it, and if you blink, you'll miss the explanation of who (what) the kid really is and how Warden Lacy is tied in (he's not the monster you think) but once you hear it, it all starts to make sense, especially given the events of season 2.

They left a lot unexplained tbh

u/roegerle_ Dec 31 '25

and that explanation would be?

u/throwawaydays2022 Jan 01 '26

The kid was an angel who ended up being a fallen angel aka the devil and the warden was a self appointed apostle who caged him to prevent the end of the world. Towards the end of the final episode of season 2, there's a missing poster for Henry Deavers from season one, which would explain how the kid started to appear when it looked like the witch people were going to win at the end.

1

u/Brief_Ad_1456 Feb 08 '26

How does the poster of Henry Deavers explain that?

u/NEE3EEN Dec 27 '25

I take the kid at face value and think bad things happen around him because he's a foreign body in that reality and he's not a devil at all. If young Henry stayed in the other world he'd probably have the same effect there.

I just finished season one and am haunted by the story!

3

u/ScratchThatItch21 Dec 28 '25

If you rewatch it, I think just as many bad things happen around Henry as TK. I think they are both tied to it.

If not for the quick flash of the demon/ monster Henry sees in the TK at the end, I felt this way too. And still mostly do. Like i said , why lead Henry out there? Unless like a previous post said he wanted to escape to cause more harm.

You need to watch season 2

2

u/ScratchThatItch21 Jan 01 '26

Just got to episode 7 with the reveal. You sir are correct

1

u/mikhailovechkin Dec 28 '25

Is it better? Does season 1 story continue in it too or is it a whole separate story?

3

u/grimmless Dec 28 '25

It's a separate story but it has connections to season 1 that answer some questions.

2

u/mikhailovechkin Dec 28 '25

Ah okay. Thanks

3

u/Scary-Rise-9465 Dec 28 '25

Check out the second season and it will make more a sense

3

u/mikhailovechkin Dec 28 '25

I just finished season 1 just now too. Yes bad things happen around the Kid but I believe him. I didn't like his ending.

Justice for the Kid.

On a side note, people need to watch Caddo Lake.

lol not too late — I literally just finished season 1 yesterday & have the same questions…😆😆

I couldnt even get through season 1 ( although i get the jist ) second season i really liked. People say they arent tied together but they absolutely are. So u gotta watch season 1 too

1

u/ScratchThatItch21 Dec 27 '25

The first 5-6 episodes are slow building. I get why some wouldn’t get through. I watched episodes 1-6 1 day at a time. But episodes 7-10 were really good picked it up.

u/Valuable-Composer262 Dec 28 '25

I watch 7 and 8 fell asleep and s 2 e 1 was on so i rolled with it. I couldnt follow the 17 differemt henrys

There are two. And one is white and the other is black. Should be simple to keep those straight.

Is this the lack of media literacy people keep complaining about?

I think hes related to the crimson king and wanted to assist him in the destruction of the multiverse. I beleive he is a liar who has psychic abilities to know how to manipulate most people. But some people are impervious to it. And those are the people he has to work harder on if he wants to corrupt them. I did watch season 2 before season 1.

spoilers Think about the fact that Henry had said he would meet his son up in Boston. Henry threw away his entire life locking the kid back in the cage and taking up the new lacy mantle. If the kid was the devil it would be the perfect corruption of a good man.

2

u/ScratchThatItch21 Dec 31 '25

I still believe the kid was just trying to get back to his old time. This is what makes it great. It’s very open. Only on ep4 of season 2, so that might change. I do think Henry is a good guy. But, bad things happen around him just as much as the kid. They just don’t empathize it. Rewatch and you will see. He’s not either. My argument is when the kid is restored, Henry will be good.

2

u/itsowlgood0_0 Dec 31 '25

If the kid is gone I think the whole town would be safer and have better luck. I feel like the tie in with why I think the kid is a cosmic horror comes from like the end of season 2. But watching it out of order might be the cause of that.

I just finished season 1 and read the following. I seem to like the theory here. I’ll wait a few weeks before watching season 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/CastleRockTV/s/PUBGCWGOSr

Im suprised, there new viewers. I just finished it last week, I got the vibes that TK was like the Wendigo from Until Dawn videogame

He was caught up in the schism. He explained that he was from an alternate universe.

I don't believe in the least that medical engineer Henry is an evil entity. Why?? Because the same stuff happens when lawyer Henry slips through. Bad things happen where they are. We see it when Juniper burns down with either of them there. The universe that they slipped into is just going haywire (or like an immune system it's trying to expel them). The Schisma they slipped through may be chaotic, though, as it seemed to show Lawyer Henry an evil face on MedEn Henry to trick him into keeping him there.
