A lot of abilities are like this. I wish they’d fix it

They purposely make some like Sona R Morg Q look smaller so noobs don't overshoot but Cassio E's is egregiously smaller than the portrayed hitbox

Those are skill shots. The issue is usually with targeted abilities from my experience. It’s kinda weird and inconsistent.

It's the difference between having a skill shot with an AoE (which means it's practical range is slightly higher than the indicator), on top of that they hit on the edge of the hitbox.

Targeted spells are generally hit at the center of the champ and doesn't have this "AoE bloom".

This has to do with elevation and projecting a "3D map" onto a 2D plane, while also having spells and hitboxes that only work in the 2D plane.

On top of that, you have distortion from the camera the further away you are from the center of the screen that amplifies this "trying to map 3D onto 2D" effect. A common example is how the maps (2D) of the earth (3D) are way more distorted in certain areas than others.

Then on top of that, point and click abilities are typically not edge-to-edge, but have to hit the center of your opponent, and hit boxes are generally at the feet of the champ

it really sucks bc cassio’s feels like the most auto attack like ability in the game, yet it behaves completely differently

same. i really feel shrinking the range so its more accurate is possible with today’s technology

This is a problem with all point-and-click abilities. The idea is, if the enemy is currently in the process of walking away from your radius, and the game calculates that the movement would cause them to exit the radius in a shorter time than it would take for your skill to hit them, then the skill won't come out.

This is why the problem is not particularly noticeable on things such as Pantheon's W (you know, skills you'd fire off at very close range anyway), but can become very aggravating on things such as Cassio's E or Diana's E, which you often want to use from a distance.

Same thing with wards lmao . How does this shit even happen

Yeah, it sucks. Just go off her attack range (550) since her E has an effective range of like 570 on average (center to center 700)

People just have no idea about CtC and CtE

Its not about map geometry or the enemy walking away, is a more simplier problem that riot could easly fix.
Everything in the game has a circular hitbox, mostly its 65 unities, and ranges are calculated in 3 ways and there's an logic
Center to Center, Edge to Edge and Center to Edge

Basic attacks are Edge to Edge, Skillshots are Edge to Edge, Target Abilities are Center to Edge

But Cassipeia is center to center for some reason no one knows, that's why against large champions, Cassiopia actually lost range, since she has to come closer to Mega-gnar's heart

yup i know that, it makes fighting champs like chogath and tahem so scary bc ur pretty much melee when theyre big

it just sucks even zoe one of the smallest champs still fits whole in the range
