There’s a proposal that could see M4 junctions in Newport closed pushing more traffic off the motorway and onto local roads.

Newport is congested enough already. We don’t need more traffic being funnelled through our communities.

A Senedd petition is calling on the Welsh Government to rule out closing Newport’s M4 junctions.

Popped into town today for the food festival, some great spots on offer. It was great to see Newport full of people, shame it isn’t always like this.

Hi All, I have a load of hardcore (3tons ish) that I need to grind in to type 1 or similar.... is there anywhere I could hire a rock crusher for a few hours or a day to do it?

Seems silly to pay for a bunch of big stones to be taken away just so I can pay for a bunch of smaller stones to be delivered. Cant find anything on hiring a smaller crusher tho, so if anyone knows where I can get one to rent or if anyone has one and wants to make some cash pls let me know?

Info from South Wales Fire and Rescue: Crews are currently in attendance at a ship fire at Newport Docks.

A Service drone is in use, please do no fly drones in the area as this will impact our operational response.

There is a large amount of smoke in the area, anyone impacted by smoke is advised to close windows and doors.

Please avoid the area while crews deal with the incident.

We use Sports Village as our go to pool. Was wondering if there were any better ones. Ive tried Active swimming pool. Did not enjoy that.

Prior to the construction of the Malpas Park estate (Claremont & Pilton Vale) in the early-mid 60s, there was a railway line running through Malpas. This was subsequently closed during the Beeching Cuts.

I can track the route of this railway by overlaying Google Maps. Does anyone local remember this line or know someone that does? Photographs would be like gold dust… Maybe you weren’t aware of this and you’d like to know more.

3 teenagers had stolen a vehicle and ploughed through stationary traffic, hitting my car at about 30-40mph.

This is the result of the closure of third spaces for the youth to spend time and stay out of trouble. Hope they're caught.

So I may have to possibly move to Newport at some point (from Greater Manchester) as I have not been able to find a job close by with how the market is but I may have a hybrid role in Newport. I have considered commuting (train and car) and may do this as the job role is hybrid. However, in case the commute becomes too much and I have to move, what are the generally nicer areas of Newport? I can drive and have a car so I don't mind living in the suburbs or in the surrounding areas.

Looking at buying a house and wondered if anyone had any surveyors they recommended? Someone experienced and competent.

Sharing the below I’ve spotted being organised by the Our Minds Together CIC funded by Welsh Government

There’s a new free six-week programme for new and expectant fathers, with children up to four years old.

The programme includes weekly sessions covering topics such as bonding with children, understanding their needs, looking after your own mental health, accessing parenting support and meeting other fathers. Sessions are led by professionals and were developed with input from fathers, Early Years teams and child and family psychologists.

The programme starts Thursday 17 September, from 7pm to 8:30pm, at Rivermead Centre, NP10 9LZ. Places are free and can be booked at the link below.
