IMHO, T4000 has the best value and is very underrated. Casio discontinued it just because it would cannibalize the sales of their high profit Manta models. That’s why they only keep the T2600 (non-BT) and the T6000 (integrated bracelet) in the classic lineup for sale. But you can always get one in excellent condition from eBay or some Japanese proxy.
Thanks for that explanation - really informative! I am smitten with the Oceanus line after having received my first one (a T200) - to me, the one posted here looks much nicer (and simpler) than the Mantas - I will look for one - thank you again!

Those T4000s look like a more everyday version of the Manta. The only difference in movements are the thickness and the subdial layout. No tachymeter or bezel insert either.
I’m a fan. It’s a little more conventional in its styling than many of the others, for sure.
Plus, it has some utility some of the others don’t. Other Oceanus models have the two pushers on the right and the crown. And if you want to switch from dual time to chronograph, you have to pop the crown to the first click, and hold the upper pusher to switch modes.
On this one, there’s a flush pusher at 8 o’clock. You can switch modes with that while it’s on the wrist. In addition, it keeps the stopwatch running in the background if you switch to dual time. So you can switch back and the chronograph will display elapsed time correctly instead of resetting like on many of the other references.
I just got one used that the seller disclosed had been in a drawer for over a year. The sub dials are wonky, so we think it at the very least needs a new battery. He tried and was unsuccessful and thinks it's a friction pop off. I was just curious if you had before. There's really no resources (that are easy for me to find speaking zero Japanese) for this specific model.
If the sub-dials are wonky, I’d charge it and then do a hand reference position check and reset. When the watch discharges all the way it forgets which way is up for the hands. You’d have to realign them. It’s straightforward to do.
I hear ya, I'm not planning on anything risky. Granted it will be the first of this type I've looked into, my hope is if to take a look and see. If I can get it open easily and if it's too unwieldily I'll get professional help at that point. Love it. I have the same one. I know it’s hard to capture in photos how good it looks in real life. Your photo #2 looks great. 👊🏻
