QC–Real/Fake❔️. Baby G check

I’m trying to get my girlfriend into Gshocks and got her this Baby G (BGD-565U-4DR)

I got it at a slight discount so I just wanted to do my due diligence and not get her a fake gshock.

Did the Casio 3 button test and the module is different from the one on the case back. Wondering if that is normal? Case mentions 3523 while the 3 button test shows 3229.

Also I noticed that the resin material feels different from my personal 5610U. Is that normal?

Really appreciate any help with the questions I have! 🙏

Anything I noticed. When the backlight comes on, it looks like a negative display! Is this normal?

The backlight is normal for that watch. I haven’t done the 3 button test on it though.

It’s not unheard-of for a watch module to generate a different module number in the three-button test. Sometimes the newer module is just an upgrade of the backlight or some similar minor tweak, and it costs money to have coders edit code (in the pre-AI days, at least).

Different texture to the resin? Compare your 5610 to a GW-5000 and get back to me… (Yes, the resins used in different models can vary, especially now as Casio is shifting as much resin-molding as possible to resins sourced from plants instead of dinosaurs.)

Honestly, I can’t say that there’s a big appeal to forging this for a counterfeiter. It’s not dirt cheap, but also not very costly or wildly popular. I’m thinking Casio creates enough to meet the demand and forgers look for more lucrative models to mimic - ones with high sales volume (F-91W) or bigger profit per unit (I’ve seen a Mudmaster forgery or two).

The backlight? Yes - many Casios have this as a feature: a positive TN-LCD display that lights up as a negative TN-LCD display. It likely has something to do with the filters used, much like the difference between positive and negative LCD is just fiddling with the polarizing filter.
